I'm a newb here and to Lincoln's. I bought a 00 LS last week for my wife. So far we are really liking it.
I am wanting to upgrade the sound a little though. I thought the rear 6x8's weren't working until I removed them and found out they are only for bass.

Is there a simple cap. I can remove to allow the full sound thru so I can install my new 6x8's?? I think the stock stereo and amps will be PLENTY fine for my wife but I want to upgrade the 6 speakers and 2 tweets so it sounds much "cleaner".

I'll go do a search now.
Thanks!

Welcome, I believe you have the alpine audiophile system, your best bet would be to just upgrade the 4 door speakers, you can replace them with 6x8's or 5x7's, since the console speakers arent really much, and the rears only give out bass.

This could help you out, theres one with pictures but im sure someone will find it and post it..

Diamond Audio Hex series

If you want really good, clean, music speakers get Diamond Audio Hex series speakers. They are so clear and clean, and sound great! If you really appreciate music and want really clean, clear, full music get them. I put them in my 01 Town Car and will never buy another speaker brand again. :L

Newb helpin a newb. LOL Thanks

She will be more then happy with some 2 or 3 way Pioneers or Sony's.
I don't like the idea (or sound) of having the full range speakers down at my feet and the subs up high where the highs should be. I think installing my full range speakers up in the back deck will sound MUCH better, I just need to know how to do it. I think it will be quite simple if I just know what to alter in the stock wiring. Help ?

Are the stock tweets any good?

Hi welcome to the forum. The console speakers aren't tweeters but just really small speaker. The subs in the back are powered by a small amp that you can see if you stick your head in your trunk and look up. That little amp also has a crossover which filters out all the higher frequencies. Putting full range speakers powered by that amp will do nothing. Without getting too crazy i would upgrade the front doors with some components and mount the tweeters higher, and put some 2 or 3 ways in the back doors. The doors will accept 5 1/4" and 6"x8" and smaller.

So that silver amp powers the sub unit and the 2 deck speakers and the head unit powers the other 6 speakers? What kind or size of woofer is in the molded unit? An 8" maybe?

How do I access the door speakers and the console speakers?
Thanks for the kind welcome
