Does anyone have a third party warranty? I keep seeing this USFidelis commercial on TV and don't think its such a bad idea especially with all the problems the LS's have.

Not kidding, I love my LS, but if I knew all of these problems existed before I bought it, I probably would have gone with something else :( BUT, this is now my everyday driver for at least 2 more years... ahh the things that will go wrong...

Also, I bought my car used with 75,054 miles, which disqualifies any factory warranty in MN because it has more than 75k. Are the coils or VCG's covered by that 10 year warranty deal I keep reading about?

I believe the older 2000-2004 have a warranty coverage for coils...10 year 100k or something. Warranty Direct is the Best Car warranty ou there. Very Expensive tho. I can get bumper to bumper up till 85k for 2400.00 and thats with me being UNDER factory warranty (for 400 more miles LOL) http://tinyurl.com/d7m8bo

What year is yours again? 2003?

USFidelis is a joke. I was interested in it too until I did some reaseach. It seems there is more megative than positive with them. They only pay for the repair if their adjuster approves it. Even though you pay a good amount for their warranty, it appears the cover almost nothing, because the adjuster is paid to find reasons to deny repairs.

Edit: I recall 1 person being denied because he had aftermarket oil and trans temp gauges mounted in an A pillar pod. They called it a performance part that added stain to the motor.

They can no longer void any warranty due to aftermarket parts.

I have a policy through AUL for my 98 Mark VIII. It is 36 months / 36,000 miles with a $100.00 deductible. The plan that I purchased is called the "Reserve" plan and is one of the most comprehensive service plans that I have seen on the market. It covers cars with 100,000 or less miles on them. I paid $1,420.00 at the time that I purchased the car in Sept. 2007 with 81,800 miles on the clock. Since then, I have had enough work done to the car that it has paid for itself (it doesn't take long with these cars). Both the stealership and my regular independent service shop mechanic have been impressed with how quickly they pay the bill. I have a local representative that I can contact in case I have any issues, so far I have not had any.
There web-site is at www.aulcorp.com
I do not receive any gratuities for this endorsement.

I also have AUL but haven't made a claim with them yet... It was like $1329 for the estate package which covers pretty much everything. That's on an 01 LS with 64k when it was bought.

I have Firstcare or some stupid name like that. I needed some gaskets (oil pan and front main) replaced not to long ago. And they asked what the mileage was and I told them 107,000 they said; Oh your warranty expires at 100,00 miles... I completely forgot about that and then realized that I've never been able to use the freak'n warranty because most of the problems that I've had with this car (coils, heater control valve) have not been covered! So basiclly I bought a $1,800 policy for nothing!
The next time I buy a car that has close to 70k I'm not getting an extended warranty!!!

Im nearing 83k on my 02 LSE. Im scared that the tranny and coils / VCG are going to crap out on me soon, as far as I know they are all still stock. However, I may be one of the lucky ones and not have to replace them during my ownership of the car...

maybe

Im liking the Vintage AUL plan, I just need basic stuff, any major work that needs to be done will probably just end up with a totaled / junked car for me. I will have a talk with the parental units and see whats up.

you'd be better off saving your money but whatever floats your boat

had one of the warranties, they said it would refund if I sold the car or traded in and told them, well, all I got after getting rid of the LS was "we are gonna be sending out the check soon," that was along time ago so I lost like $600 but oh well, should have known it was all a joke.

i am a manager at a ford dealership-if you cant buy a ford warranty just don't buy any warranty. we see people come in with these aftermarket warranties and tell us to do the work that the warranty will cover it. the cars usually stay at the shop until the customers pay because these companys have so many loop hole they don't pay for a damn thing.
