hey everytime it rains I have mad water in my trunk down by my tire and battery anyone know what this could be from? bad trunk seal>?
also my trunk sits up on one side just a little bit and i cant get it flush

I have the same problem and I was going to try and figure it out on my own first before I posted. Surely this has happened to someone else and there is a fix for it. Last thing I want to do is bring it to a dealer.

One thing I did notice is the trunk lining right underneath the trunk latch is full of mold on one side so i took it out because of the nasty odor when you open the trunk. I'm thinking that's where the water was seeping through but I'm not sure. The other day when I checked it was about an inch full in the spare tire well.

Anyway, if anyone has some input it would be appreciated.

I had a leak into my wheel well as well. It stopped happening, but I think it came from the top of the rear surround, where the emblem is. Who ever took off the surround previous broke the top screw and it does not sit flush with the trunk anymore.

That is the only thing i could find.

A way to check it, is to dry out the spare tire area and take a hose and apply water in certains areas and check to see if its leaking from there. Process of elimination. Good Luck!

I'm pretty sure the water in my trunk comes in from the top of the surround. It doesn't sit flush.

I also have the water in the trunk 2000 LS. It's leaking from the surround and if it ever stops raining I'll fix it.

I also did a search and here are a few solutions for others that had the same problem. Hope it helps.

I also had water in the trunk. Took it to the dealer and they had problems finding the source of the leak. They eventually said it was the seal and replaced the entire rubber strip around trunk opening. I keep my LS in the garage now and have only had it in light rain a few times but I havent noticed any water in the trunk again yet.

I had the water in the trunk problem too...after about 5 visits to the dealer and they eventually found it was leaking around the tail light assembly, they tightened it and it hasn't leaked since...may want to check that out if you haven't found it yet.

Pull your battery tray and silicone around all those plastic plugs and the bolt holes. The water usually comes in through the bolt holes. (from Ford certified tech)

we have found more times than not the water is coming from the license plate housing onthe deck lid distorting or braking allowing water to get in.remove the trunk hatch trim have someone get in the trunk with a flashlight spray water over the trunk you should be able to find it.good luck. (Lincoln tech)

Have someone crawl in the trunk with a flashlight, shut the trunk, and hit it with water from your hose. Seriously.

I replaced my trunk gasket - like $80 - didn't solve the problem.

Turns out the water was coming in around a rear taillight bolt. (I've had them out a few times).
