we ALL need to join Save our hobby

I completely agree.Living in California it's hard to know what we can do here when it comes to hot rodding our cars. There really needs to be a better balance when it comes to doing so.

Introduced by a Lib - there's a shocker.

now why cant i put a quite aftermarket exhaust on my car, but harleys come with exhaust that is loud as hell

If anything they should educate the rednecks on the physics of exhaust and that straight pipes on an old Chevy pickups doesn't sound good....at all

this is just because of the retards that take their sh1t to the shop and say " yeah i dont want any mufflers and for it to be as loud as possible"

This isn't just for the after market exhaust law.
Its for all new car related laws in every state.
If we don't voice our opinion we will end up like Europe.

Can't speak for all of Europe, but the United Kingdom's DOT and vehicle emissions laws aren't nearly as strict as those of the USA. (although some states having no inspection is a bonus, but I'm sure the Libs will try to ruin that before long) Heck, cars manufactured before 1993 didn't and still don't need to have catalytic converters. The Mark VIII is the first vehicle I've owned that had all kinds of emissions and safety junk on it. You'll also notice that some Euro versions of cars sold in the USA are not only superior, but also produce more power. (BMW E36 M3 and the current M5 are two such examples - one reason being - less strict emissions laws)

ttt
just thought with all the new members
more people need to join
this net work helped keep a lot of bad laws off the books
like in Hawaii they tried to basically make aftermarket stereos illegal
Pleas join everyone

The damn econazis just won't be happy until everyone is driving a quite little Prius or Hyundia econobox around.

I do not agree with this law proposal but I do have a question, what is the motivation behind this law? I know some others have posted that some areas are banning those cars with the big rims...is this geared towards that? I can't see the automotive industry rolling over on this one...there has to be some car enthusiasts in that legislative body.

Honestly there is no logical motivation. It's always some bs about cracking down on street racing, gang activity, juvenile delinquency or to be 'green'. In reality it's a bunch of old people who don't like loud cars/music and people who don't like originality. They just want everyone to conform, don't ask questions and keep buying the latest smartphone.

Basically a lot of ignorant people tend to connect any kind of loud 'in your face' car with street racing, drug dealing and gangs. Either that or they'll think it's a bunch of scary rebellious teenagers:eek:

The "green" reasons are also totally bogus. Aftermarket exhausts make cars run more efficiently and increase fuel economy. If anything it makes the cars greener. Unless we're talking about people who don't have any cat converters I don't see their point.

Personally I only have a problem with those redneck trucks that have no cats with straightpipes and the thousands of civics I see everywhere that some kid stuck a blatcan on. Stuff like that does sort of scream "everyone look at me I'm making noise" and you can bet they're not doing it for performance reasons. Still I wouldn't even think about trying to stop them from doing it. If they like it then more power to em.

Btw this is the kind of people backing these idiotic bills

I am not sure the fact I live in another state will have any bearing on this decision however I am going to investigate my state to see if this is being proposed as well...thanks for the heads up on this issue.

The damn econazis just won't be happy until everyone is driving a quite little Prius or Hyundia econobox around.

the strip mining for the lithium batteries is about the least "green" thing any car maker can do to the environment.

It'll never pass, not as long as Jay Leno/ all them other richy rich ppl are around!

You want to know why they're doing this? Because people are tired of hearing loud exhausts. Normally it's the effing loud Harleys running straight pipes, but the other day I was behind a Neon SRT-4 with an exhaust so obnoxiously loud that I had to turn up my radio to hear it over the POS Dodge--and I had my windows rolled up. God help the poor sucker on the sidewalk or with his windows rolled down.

It's the asshats like that who're going to ruin for all of us. Just ask the smokers how much it helped to have inconsiderate jackasses who smoked any time or place they damn well pleased. I'll wait while you go out to the leper colony on the loading dock...

This is my argument ... And sorry loud pipes don't save lives .. you can't here the damn bike coming while in a car only when passing .. or when behind the bastard ...
