We have had the Bug in the Family since 73. It was always a big block, went 9.90 last time we got kicked off the track with the old 427 motor.
This 468 was in my Uncles Super Gas Nova going 8.40's in a 2200 lb car.
Its about 800hp on 110 octane. The Bug currently weighs about 2700ish.
We will be at the Funny Car Reunion at Etown on the 26th so we will get an exact weight then.
We have run this car with and witout that puny air filter thats on it and nothing changed. We also get people all the time commenting on the #6 fuel line feeding the carb and the OLD a$$ Holley black fuel pump we use, they always say "It will never run right" or "your starving that engine" LMAO!
The plugs are always chocolatey brown and the car runs like a dream.
It runs cool as a cucumber now we have the Mark VIII fan and aluminum radiator.
At this point it's the sickest it has ever been, we tore the rear framing out f it with this new combo and we had to modern back half it with real frame rails.
It's nothing more then a rolling Horror Movie!
Heres the Bugs story and pictorial starting in 73.
