weird shifting???

The car seems to shift funny from 2nd to 3rd at high RPM's. Almost seems like it shakes a little bit???
Any ideas the cars under waranty I just want to have some sort of idea so they give me any B.S.

Oh the cars a 2002 V8 auto LSE
 
I think most of the LS shift bad from 2-3 or 3-2, especially in SST mode. I don't think that you have anything to worry about. You could try to reprogram your PCM.

I believe this tranny is really a 3 speed with 2 over drives. So there are times when 2 shifts happen at the same time. Quik will know for sure...
 
huh??? Come on man, it's a 5 speed auto, all automatic LSs are 5 speed.

unplug the battery, see if that might solve it...

The 5-speed in the LS is, as Kelleyo said, a 3-speed with two overdrives. 1, 2, and 4 are "normal" gears; 3 and 5 are overdrives for 2 and 4, respectively.

I think I know what you guys are talking about.....when you keep your foot in it and your in second and it shifts into third it almost feels like its slipping because the rpm's dont really drop much if you keep your foot on it.....or do I just have a tranny problem.....

Its not slipping but it more or less souinds like it would if your clutch was going and you stomped on it..... Anyone know what Im talking about....

Sooner...please explain that...I'm not following.

I thought 4th was 1:1 and 5th was od. Here's what I found...

1st: 3.25
2nd: 2.44
3rd: 1.55
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.75

Only 5th is overdrive.

It's a 3 speed with a .8 overdrive. The overdrive is used twice to create 2 extra gear ratios (2nd and 5th)

Here is how it actually works:
1st - 1
2nd - 1 + OD
3rd - 2
4th - 3
5th - 3 + OD

This is why the 2-3 or 3-2 is sloppy. It always has to do 2 shifts.

Mine was EXACTLY as you described, particularly noticible in SST mode. I haven't noticed it since the PCM was flashed with the SCT. Now it tends to drop into 5th a bit late, but 2 - 4 are tighter.
