So tonight was the first time I have been to the track with my car. And I have to say I am very pleased with the out come.

List of mods are as follows:
Muffler delete.
Completley stock other than mods listed above lol.

All passes made with t/c off, first pass came up on the converter a bit and blew the tires off and ran a 19.xx at 83 mph. Not a bad mph I thought.

Second pass flat footed it in drive and went 16.07 at 88 mph. Was quite exctied at this point not to bad for the old girl.

So was about to leave and figured why not one more pass. So I put it in first and flat footed it then shifted into second and finished out the run in second gear. I was blown away when I got my ticket for 15.78 at 90 mph.

I haven't really done any research on stock times but all I have to say is I'm reallly happy with the old girl and just wanted to share my excitement.

On average a 97 should run a 15.3ish in stock form. High miles, not up to date maintenance will make that number grow.

What were your r/t's?

I haven't made it out to the track with my Mark VIII. I have taken my 97 Cougar and my 00 Grand Marquis.

What elevation are you at? Most Danvilles I found are under 500 feet in elevation.

At 2600 feet with my 97 Cougar I ran mainly in the 16.3-16.4 range at 86 mph. It was over 95 degrees (at night) and I ran 9 times. I don't remember the times from the 00 Grand Marquis, but I do remember than a highway patrolman at the end of the 1/4 mile would likely had NOT given me a ticket.

Corrected for temp, humidity, elevation, and barometric pressure same run at sea level would have been a 15.21 @ 92.579 MPH (for a 16.385 at 85.9 mph run at 90 degrees, 35% humidity, 30 barometer which comes out to an elevation of 5500 feet).

The Cougar had a mail order tune for 91 octane fuel, a PI intake. 3.27 gears, 12 inch stock TC.

The only cars I was beating was the big block muscle cars, ricers with parts falling off, and the fox body mustangs. I lost one run to a pro truck that ran an 8.1 in the quarter. He had dinner waiting for me to get to the end, as he couldn't cross over to the exit until I was past him, as he had to cross my lane.

I'm definitely curious about the altitude. Here at about 600 ft DA my buddy ran a 15.5 in his 2001 Grand Marquis with 2.73 gears and cat-back dual exhaust otherwise BONE STOCK. A Mark8 should run much quicker than 15.78 That's what he was running the rest of the day in his Marquis after the sun came out and DA shot way up. lol

Well I would say I need to give her a tune up. I will find out my elevation it. May be 550 ft or so.

I was on a bald street radial. I think if I could have gotten a hole shot out of it I would have ran a significantly better time. But they run the street cars out of the groove as well so thathdoesnt help.

Post your 60ft times and we'll let you know if good or bad.

My Mark VII ran 15.5's with 2.25" exhaust, Magnaflows, & underdrive pullies. I threw on a set of GT40 heads and 3:55 gears and ran 15.119@93.67mph. I'm hopeful that my VIII runs at least a low 15 and I can improve from there. I gotta get it to the track soon to get a base run.
