So about 3 weeks ago me and a friend replaced my front rotors and put ceramic brake pads on, and about a week ago I got new tires, the morons at firestone apparntly do not know how to put directional wheels on, so iv got my left rear in right front!

so a couple of days ago im cruising down a highway and hit the brakes at about 60, and i hear a loud thumping noise that slows down, as the car slows. I thought it was a flat tire so I immediatly pull over.

Couldnt find anything wrong so i didnt really worry about it. but now every once in a while it starts up again, but only until i slow to about 10 mph then it stops.

I can not figure it out, it sounds like its coming from directly beneath me or mayb a little to the front. I wonderd about the tranny but thats not acting up at all, then I thought mayb its because of the directional wheels?

Im gettin kinda worried because the last thing i want is a 3700lb car runnin down a road with no way to stop. so please help me out.

thanx guys, and srry for the long post.!

Hmm..

You had brakes done recently. I'd start there.
Check the calipers, make sure they are tight.
Check the brake pads to make sure they are seated properly
Make sure the rotors are properly centered on the hub.
Make sure the wheels (Rims as some of the ricier people call them) are properly torqued down.

Then, check the blinker fluid reservoir. Ok, that last one is optional, but it don't hurt to check it.

Can anyone think of anything else?

Check for a midget under the car slamming his fist into the frame whenever you start slowing down! those midgets are pesky

check to see if there is rust on the hubs(the thing behind the rotor with the studs in it) if the rotor is not sitting flat it will cause the caliper to "groan" when it moves due to the crooked rotor, to check for abs false activation first with the car off put it in drive and try to start it, if it dosent start then put it in park start it, start driving (i know it sounds scary) but when you are slowing down and normally hear the noise hold the key in the start poss. andhold it, if the noise goes away then it is abs false activation cuz when you turn the key to start it turns off the abs module, but you want to make sure that your car WONT start in drive cuz if it trys to start if will smoke your starter. i know it sounds crazy but it works thats what we do at our dealership to help diag abs probs
