I read that instruction thing about how to assemble the thermostat in the new housing. I'm having no luck at all. It says it doesn't matter which way you rotate the assembly to lock it in but I can't get it to rotate at all. I put a little pressure on it and no luck. I put all my weight on it almost pushing it in and twisting but no luck. Is there some dumb crap I'm missing? I did it exactly like how the how to thing here said with a socket and trying just my hands but no luck. It's all ford motorcraft parts so it's not cheap knockoff crap hence it not working.

And also if someone could be so kind as to tell me what the part number is for those clips that hold the cowl in are because I snapped everyone of them except one while removing it. Which didn't make me very happy but I understand its 10 years old.

Thanks for any help.

I don't see how you could do it with a socket. You need an open end wrench, like it says. If you are pressing very hard, you are doing it wrong (pressing on the wrong thing or have the parts in the wrong order or turned wrong).

I was trying an open ended wrench too. And a piece of wood. And other things. Nothing was working very well. I'm guessing I have something wrong because when I was searching I didn't see anyone else asking how to do this. It's probably something simple as hell that I'm just overlooking and it's making me get mad and then I overlook worse

It's a bit tricky, but you only push on the metal tabs and not the whole thing. Play with it without trying to install it, and it will become apparent.

Be careful as to what you're pushing on too... hopefully you haven't already cracked your housing somewhere.

Alright I figured it out once I took the old thermostat housing out and took a peek at it. I appreciate the help guys
