I have a loud click in my relay box when i disconnect and connect my battery, and something is killing the car. I have 2 batterys and high output alt. I thnk something is staying on in the relay box but for relay 001-007 it says ssp1 ssp3 ssp3 ssp2. What does the ssp mean... please need help quick here thanks

The only definition I found for SSP that looked even close is "service switching point," but that comes from telecom/networking, so I don't know if it's even close. It does seem to describe what they're doing, though.

I checked AllDataDIY, and I didn't find a definition for SSP, but those relays appear to control a whole bunch of subsystems in the car. SSP1 and SSP2, f'rinstance, appear to be involved in the control of the front lighting (headlights, turn signals, etc). As best I can tell, they're controlled by the FEM and/or REM.

hope this helps ya out!

(Relay)
SSP3 BJB

(Fuse) 424 (30A)

(Controlled Devices)
High mounted stoplamp (REM)
RR park/stoplamps (REM)
Reversing lamps (REM)
LR turn signal (REM)
Passenger power mirror
Trailer stoplamps/turn signals (if equipped with trailer tow)

the reason im asking this is because something is stayin on in my car and killing the battery, its drawing pretty big. Car stays charged for like a day with 2 batterys. When i disconnect and connect the batt i get a loud click from those relays which i dont think should be normal, i was thinking maybe something there is staying on or was drawing off the batts, i have a brand new 250 amp alt in there + 2 batterys. No stereo is even currently in the car its all torn out for now trying to find whats killin my car. I cant figure out what the hell it is been looking for like 2 weeks now. If anyone has an idea let me know, also its not my alt, battery terminal, cables, or batteries. So if you guys have some ideas please throw them out there

That clicking is normal, ive disconnected and reconnected my battery a few times and those relays click their not staying on its just the metal contact clicking them back and then forth to normal operating conditions, i would test for current draw with a DMM or an amp meter, make sure nothings left one, nothing else is hooked up to the battery/s constantly and staying on, what do you have currently hooked up to any of the batteries?

I have nothing hooked up in there. Just some wire that will hook up to my amps soon, not even a radio in there. I had this problem before my new alt as well. I dont know what it is.

Does anyone know who controls all ssp? That is to say ssp1, ssp2, ssp3 and ssp4, I have a problem does not work fog lights, windshield wipers, and horn and my fuel system

I'm not sure what you are asking.
SSP = Switched System Power
Most (if not all) SSP relays are controlled by the REM.
What real troubleshooting have you done? Have you checked for power at these devices and circuits? By fuel system, do you mean that the fuel pump isn't running? What things are working? What year is this LS?
