I am in the process of pulling my trans out of my 1994 mark viii and while its out, I was going to upgrade it with the "j mod", accum. and replace the convertor. I spoke with lonnie at blue oval chips and he recommended his stage 2 convertor with 3k stall. The convertor is about $625.00. Is this overkill? The car has typical bolt ons like exhaust, cold air and a chip real soon. I want to keep the stock gears in it for now b/c I do a lot of hwy driving. Any sugestions or advice would help.

I would go to Circle D for a converter... word is Cricle D builds Lonnies converters, so why not skip the middle man and his mark up....

As far as what stall speed to go for the stock converter is around 2600-2800rpms so if you are only going to go for 3000 why waste your time, just get a factory covnerter for $250. I wouldn't put anything lower than 3500 rpms in a Mark....
