Everyone that I had heard of doing that used a Monroe Sensatrac shock. The upper stud is a little smaller than the stock shock, but works great....expecially for the price!

I know you said you bought mounts already, but if you want it tighter, get some solid upper shock mounts from a guy named Eric Neasham. If my memory serves me right, they are $35 a pair(incl. shipping). These mounts are made specifically for the Monroe Sensatracs. You can e-mail him at: neasham_e@hotmail.com

I don't know for a fact, but I've heard the Monroe # is 5965 ST.

I did the same thing except it was Strutt Masters

and the shocks didn't come with the mounting plate/bracket and like you the bushings which came with the shocks were too small for the stock mounting bracket.Well the Ford dealer wants $165 a peace for the shocks and $55 a peace for the brackets.Well I don't mean to be nasty but you know what they can go do to their selfs!Arnott has the shocks with the mounting brackets all/both for I think it is $139 which I think I'l order mine today too. Looks like I'm gona go Arnott all the way with the supension.:)

Its your money, you spend it the way you want. I'm just saying that most Mark 8 owners buy 2 solid mounts for $35 including shipping from Eric, buy 2 quality Monroe shocks for $30-$35 each at AutoZone or Pep Boys and wind up spending less and have allot better quality part on your car. You do what you want, but don't be surprised if your china shocks squeak in the near future.

I did the rear shock switch on my 93 and got mounts from Maxx for $35 a piece.. Gold Member's Discount...

Thats a good price for Ford stuff Rich, but because they do have the rubber inside, if you keep the car long enough, you'll have to replace them again. The solid mounts from Eric don't have the rubber inside and should last forever. BTW, his mounts are $35 for "a pair"....including shipping.

you gotta remove the rubber that is in the stock mount and replace it with one of the rubber ones that comes with the T-Bird sensa tracs then it should fit.

thanks for the info

I think I'l go with the Monroes and the solid mounts then.

well i got them to work by using a hose around the stud of the shock and inside of the steel sleeve of the bushing and so far so good, my prob was that i work as a tech at a ford dealer so i ordered the parts through work and when the shocks were wrong, if i would return them i would only get credit so i would needed to get ford parts and the linc shocks were $100 each at my cost and the supercoupe ones were the same price and i wasent cutting up the 2 new mounts that i also just bought. but i guess if i start having probs i will cut the new mounts up and use the t-bird bushings

I just put two Monroe SensaTracs Part#5965 on my 94 Mark VIII. The stud was smaller but fit nonetheless. $26.99 each at AdvancedAutoParts.
