A few days ago I had an insident with a vette where the driver showed off at a red light... I'm not putting any other vehicles down or anything... but but I love my mark8... I've talked to a few of my friends and they laugh at me when I tell them that I'm going to build my car so that it can beat a stock vette... you see, I worked on cars my whole life... BUT was never into the hotrods or racing... I've been a lowrider and all we focused was on bodywork, paint and suspention... so I honestly don't know jack about fixing up a hotrod other than what I've read here... ever since I got my mark I fell in love with it... it's not the best looking at the time either... but with time it will shine... can anyone answer the following question? Car a mark beat a vette? and if so what would it take? I'm determined to prove these people wrong... Thank you for any help in advance... These cars are sleepers (most of them at least), these cars are elegant... but are also mean when provoked...

I know how you feel... People just don't believe what a Mark VIII can do..

It would be nice to have one pull away from a stock vet.

What about the Mid to late 70's vets... How would the Mark VIIIs hold up to one.

I know from experience that in my 93 mark with a few bolt on's I held up with a i believe 99 or 2000 vette(not the zo6) and I beat him 1 time on the hwyI also know that the guy didn't know how to downshift his car.. I wa sin the right gear and he wasn't. Had he known how to drive he would've spanked me. this just goes to show you that the driver makes all the difference in a race.

ok now my guess with be to Beat a new stock vette you'd need everybolt on just about and either spray the hell out of it or get a s/c and spray some. I've said it in another post I have lots of mods on my black car and a stock 99 trans am ripped me a new a-hole, and he got a best of 13.5 at the track, new vettes are faster.

What about the older vets 75 to 83 the old stingrays.

the older vettes arn't nearly as fast. I never raced them so I have no clue but if they are stock, it should be a good race. if you are slighly modded you should win, but again I don't know the #'s on the older vettes

I dunno bout the vettes from the 70's..but I've driven an 85 it was not impressive. I'm about 90% sure a mark would take that gen.

A 125 shot will take care of most 'stock' Vettes. The DOHC loves the juice. Just give momma what she needs.

the 4.6L is a smaller V8 but the DOHC is unbeatable. if you het some head work done and open him up get 4 cams you can get this big, nace, and fast car really moving...
I fell in love with the 4.6L but F$@K mustangs so I was stuck. then I found the markVIII and there was no going back
