ok so I'm driving home today and I'm in the fast lane and a car is in the slow lane passing to try to get in front of us and failed. I was right behind the car in front of me and this guy just comes in my lane. ok I wasnt happy so I honked my horn and gave him the good ol 1 finger salute and this guy slams on his breaks like he was in the right not once but twice.... I was kinda flustered the rest of the way home almost losing the front end of the Mark twice within a minute, thank God it stopped well enough to avoid hitting this guy.

What would you guys do if some guy did this to you?

It depends if I'm driving a car that I care about or not. If I care about the car, I'd either back off, or speed up to get away from the guy. If I didn't care about the car though, I'd get in front of him and drop it down to 2nd. Nothing quite aggrivates someone who brake-checks you when you do it to them only they don't see brake lights!

Having been involved in a couple of nasty 'road rage' situations myself, my advice to you would be to let other drivers do whatever the hell they want - don't react, just drop back well out of their way. Moronic drivers always seem to end up getting what's coming to them anyway.

Back in my younger days, I left a light on my bike a little fast and the redneck behind me in a POS pickup got right on my ass. I slowed to let him pass and he wouldn't. Granted I was my 1200 and could have just punched it and lost him it pissed me off.
I jammed the brakes as hard as I could and he must have shat himself. He ended up in the gravel on the side of the road to miss me.
Looking back I had a lot more to lose, but If you could have seen the look on his face it was worth it.
I guess he under estimated the depth of my stupidity.

My first thought when this happens is to get him to stop the car and then proceed to beat the crap out of him for being so stupid. The common sense thing says to let it go and get as far away as possible. There are a couple of alternatives if you can get in front of him. Most people will back off if you show that you are crazier (?)than they are. Give him a couple of brake jobs yourself. A good trick is to use your e-brake. Push the release button or pull the release lever (which ever applies to the vehicle you're driving), so that the e-brake doesn't stay on. Then apply the e-brake. This gives him a brake job without the benefit of brake lights for him to see. When you see the look of panic on his face in the mirror, you can be satisfied and let go of the e-brake and do it again if you wish. Or if he pissed you off enough, you can hold the brake and let him hit you. Claim innocense when the cops come. Say traffic slowed down and he wasn't paying attention. If the cops check your brake lights, they will work as long as he didn't break them. Even if he did, 99.99% of the time the person who hits you from the rear is found at fault. Not only does his insurance pay to fix your car but he gets a ticket for being stupid.

well had i been in a beater the guy woulda been in the wall when he came into my lane and he would find out what racing is like I believe that if you let somebody cut in front of you (or they cut you off) in traffic and they don't give you the little "wave", it should be perfectly legal to get up underneath 'em, get 'em loose, and put 'em into the wall.

But being in the mark and knowing that it would just get totaled i couldnt do that....man i miss my old explorer or cougar lol

I have an '88 Town Car for a beater. It seems that when your in the beater, people don't act up. But when they see a nice car, they loose all control of their brain function. It's like the first rain or snow after a dry spell. They don't have a clue to what they are doin'. So many times when people pull that crap I'll yell at them: "You're lucky I'm not drivin' my other car. You would be eatin' dirt comin' through your windshield!" Usually no one hears it but I feel a little better after yelling. It helps release some of the stress. Does anyone Know what the definition of 'stress' is?

Well in my lincoln, tint all the way around. Usually no one will mess with you at all. But in the rare instance they do pulling up along side of them and cracking the window about a inch is all it takes to get them back in line. If that don't work i do a quarter lane swerve which always gets the point across. Thats when you match speed next to them and jerk the wheel into their lane and bring it back. 98% of the time they will slam on the brakes and then you use your turn signal and pull in front of them. This is a excellent tactic when some dick is pacing you and won't let you over. No one cares if you swerve with a beater, you do it with a lincoln and people :q:q:q:q their pants.

I would drive around and cut the guy off. An Eye for an Eye.....noone deserves to cut someone if they could of just got in the lane behind you. Try caring a gun to get the point across. JK

But still...I race up so they can't cut me off or I cut them off if they get the chance....

I agree with Martin. In my mind it's not worth it to react, you'll be the one who gets caught.

There have been many times I wish I had my old Chevy Caprice still, mostly during instances just like this. Cuz I could just plow the :q:q:q:q:q:q:q off the road and keep goin like nothing happened.

Even for how menacing it may sound, (and how well it would probably work) brandishing a weapon in a threat to disuade someone is illegal, and if they decide to call the cops on you, you're gonna go to jail. So its really not worth it to flash a gun unless you're already on the side of the road after the accident, and the other guy is threatening you.

Best thing to do is get away from them, unfortunately, that's just how it is.

Either that or chase them at 90 mph down a skinny twisty country road to scare the pants off them, and then back off right before you get to where the cops always sit to run radar.

Also I look at the situation, If it's just us then I will play with them. If we have trafic and it's grouped up pretty good I'll just let it go.

I'd have to agree with Martin ... Nothing you do will change the idiot ... they only know of their own existence and anything they do wrong is your fault.

So I just doesn't matter.

Ask Scott9050 what happens when a biker cuts you off and you brake for them to let them in and give them the right of way...

The @ss hole walks over to you and punches in the face at the next stop light. Even when you show the courtesy to them when they are the idiot.

i would have plowed into him, and i have, i got screwed but so did the other persons car so it equaled out! people like that deserve to go off the road and slam a pole head on. years and yeara ago we had a car go by us in new york driving like a total ass in and out of cars and flying down the free way, 10 miles later we saw the same suv flipped over in between the highway with crap spilled all over the road. later that night back at our friends house they announced the driver had died on the scene, i laughed, seriously, call me whatever you want but i was glad, because it could have been 10 other people the way this dick was driving, when i see things like that, i smile!!
