okay, its getting close to time for me to get this car from my dads place to mine.

I would like your opinions on what i can get for this car money-wise in parting it out.

Its a 1993 w/98K~~~ miles, engine runs, starts right up,tranny good, basically everything is good except for the crash damage.

so whats it all worth and, more importantly ,whats gonna sell/how much money can i maybe expect in a short amount of time from this.

i understand i am asking a lot of opinion here from all of you,and i also understand you will only be giving me rough guesses on the value, but you people are my "experts" and therfore best ones to ask this.

thanks in advance guys.

i hope i can get enough out of this to cover a good chunk of the purchase price of a nice mark for myself.

Mike

I'd say it's worth maybe $500 looking at it, you might make about $1,000-$1500 parting it out.

More then $1500 parting it out...

There are so many little parts that'll pull $25-$100 each -- a quick list - HVAC, Radio, Seats, Shift Handle, Door Handles, Doors, Real Glass, Door Panels, Windsheild, Side Windows, Side Mirrors, Rims, Engine, Tranny, alternator, AC, etc etc etc etc.

Part it out. Put the parts here and on EBAY. You'll have enough for another Mark VIII in no time.

I bet you could cover most of a new Mark VIII parting this car out. Ask Scott9050 he parted some of his 96 and couldn't believe what he got for some parts.

Also talk to LvC Member Thomas A he parts out a lot of Mark VIIIs and sells them on eBay.

hey, how much do u think the radio antena (sp?) setup would be? my antena got messed up when i took it threw a car wash :(

If he has local buyers then a few of the big parts might sell, but in my experience most people do not want to pay shipping. In my experience so far: The rear window if waffled no one wants, the early HVAC is worthless, side mirrors I got a decent ammount for, but if non self dimming maybe $25 each if you are lucky with the drivers side fetching more. With rebuilt alternators going for $65 on Ebay I have not seen any pre 96 units sell at all and I look every day. The rims he might get $100-$150, tranny unless it is under $200 with that mileage will not sell on Ebay because of the shipping. The engine might sell but would not go for more than $350-$400. I saw one with 38K on it not sell for $499 recently after several listings. If the seats are ripped, no one will want them, but if in good shape might fetch $100. Shift handle might bring in $10-$15 if in good shape with wire not cut, door panels almost never sell, the right door is smashed and so if most of the expensive front parts, so that source of valuable income is gone. I also see 1/4 windows for $20 on there all the time, they rarely sell. The highest price part off my car so far was the complete unmolested center console which fetched $128 and I am still parting out. I have an unmolested trunk lid with great paint that did not sell with an opening bid of $39. I did have the stock JBL amp though sell for $101 to a guy with a -1 rating. He actually paid very quickly. If the bags are shot (and it looks like they might be) you can scratch them off the list as well. I sold the front ride sensors and they only got $9.

Another problem with Ebay is the deadbeats who continue to come out of the woodwork. I reported one who was banned and have another right now whose auction ended May 7th and still has not paid. I also listed the car on several sites and people would want shipping quotes but then you would never hear back from them again. Because of that, when the interior is gone (Mespock is getting it next month) what is left will be sold whole on Ebay in the parts car section.

Great,
thanks for all the info,
hopefully i can grab some buyers on ebay with low cost shipping,i work for a shipping company and get great rates.
if i cant get enough for it i plan to buy a decent looking 8 that needs something,(like engine tranny, etc)and pull it out of wrecked car.

i will then probably just pull important stuff and store it in my barn incase of future needs, and scrap the rest of it.

how much are you asking for them if selling what size are they

I'm selling the rims and tires together as a package. The rims are chrome
18x7.5 ASA JS5 wheels, and the tires are 245/45YR-18 Michelin Pilot Sport
A/S (all seasons), pretty much the best tires money can buy, and believe me,
they REALLY grip the road, even with a 4000 lb. Mark VIII on top of them. I
can definitely attest that they let my Mark VIII go around corners quickly
and without worry of fishtailing or sliding across the road at all. They
are outstanding in the rain, the biggest factor I looked for when shopping
for tires was hydroplane resistance and these had the best rating on
tirerack.com. They were the #1 all season Z-rated tire on the web site (oh
yeah, these tires are Z-Rated). I bought them back in early November, and
the wheels and tires have less than 1000 miles on them. They are still in
excellent condition, and the tires are like brand new. They clean up
extremely well. I paid total wheels and tires brand new, $2200 (wheels were
$279 each and tires were $269 each). Since they are still in great
condition, I'm asking $1650 nego. for wheels and tires. They come still
balanced and ready to roll. They would look great on your Mark!! I checked
tirerack.com where I first bought the tires and these WILL fit your '95 Mark
VIII.

brendan ,i need the air intake tube if it isn't broken , just from the tb to the mass air meter
i don't need the filter or meter

The engine on my Mark only has 52000 miles.... if you're interested. Make an offer for the intake tube and it's yours... I'm not really sure how much something like that would go for. If you're interested in buying the whole thing as a car, let me know.... I will keep the tires and rims though, trying to sell those separate.
