Wanting input on realistic value for my '02 LSE.
Silver Birch Metallic (JP)
89K miles
2 owners
Clean title
Has been well taken care of
Everything works (so far)

After reading about the associated problems with this particular model & costs to repair, Im conside ring selling it. I love the looks but that only goes so far. If properly advertised, what should I expect to put in my pocket after sale ? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Let's see a pic of this true 02 LSE, big difference if it's the 02 LSE compared to a regular LS.

however, it's still a 13yr old car with mild mileage, I'd put it in around 4K, maybe 4500$ if it's absolutely clean and mint.

you are not going to get 5, 6 or 7K ... trust me on this, not on an 02 LS or LSE. if it was an 06 you might get up there but that's not the case here.

Here's one pic

so the fender is a different color?

Yes, I bought it wrecked. I have a body shop & it has front damage. I've replaced all parts with ford parts & it goes to frame shop tomorrow for a light pull. 2nd pic is how it looked when I bought it.

kinda getting info kinda later that would greatly effect the question asked earlier.

Ok imagine, if you can if car was repaired & in pre-accident condition. What is a reasonable starting point in pricing ?

I find it hard to believe kbb & all the other value guides that have the LSE priced so low. I know they're just that; guides but taking into consideration the "rarity" if you will & mileage I feel it should be priced higher. I am aware of the reliability issues & trouble areas of these cars but the LSE isn't a car you see everyday.

Yes and no, it's just that they don't fetch large money in today's market on resale.

However, that is a true rare 02 LSE and is considered a little more valuable then a regular 02 LS.

You should see member HITE's 02 LSE, it's all done up now and something special. very nice indeed.

I personally think you should have parted it out rather then restoring it, you might have come out further ahead.

PS: good luck with finding a replacement 02 LSE front bumper cover on the cheap for that one! Not going to happen.

Frt bumper & grille - not cheap. Ford only parts. Over $400 for bumper & $200 for grille & that's with a price break !

$400 for an 02 LSE front bumper cover, that is a good deal, somewhere someone with their hands up in the air cuz your robbing them at that price.

Don't kid yourself here. The LS is not "rare" as in a sought out collector's car. You can ask what you want for it, but you aren't likely to get that much. It's very unlikely that the things that you feel make it worth more will even be considered by anyone looking at it.

KBB.COM shows $4800 for zip: 33615 with the options you listed in fair condition (replacement and repair needed).

Where are you finding LSE bumpers/body parts for sale?

rarity doesn't matter as this is not a collectors car, honestly its barely going to be worth anymore than a standard LS from the same year (and that's only going to be if bought by somebody that really knows what it is)

the sad thing is no LS is ever worth as much as its owner thinks it is, they are just not that desirable of a car to the masses (hence why it failed and was canceled) they never marketed the car right so the average person just doesn't know a lot about them. even if they did, at this point its just an 13 year old sedan. now if it was a manual trans car, then you might have a chance at finding somebody looking hard for it and willing to travel to get it.

plus really sure how much profit there will to be made after finding the right bumper and grille that are almost impossible to find, I guess if you were to win the LS lottery and not have to spend a grand for them, your chances might be better. if you can really get a hold of a 1st gen LS bumper for $400, then that is a steal! but your target demo is just so small right now, its going to be hard to get good serious offers. possibly you might want to think about selling it in Colorado, a new guy mentioned there that the LS market is crazy high and that he had to go out of state just to get one that was not about double the price of what everyone else on here would have payed.

honestly you would take whatever KBB says its worth, then knock off a little cause it has been wrecked (I dont care how well it has been repaired, a wrecked and repaired car is never worth as much as the same car that hasn't been wrecked)

I can get new parts thru ford. I hate having to spend that much for a bumper & grille but it is what it is. I guess I'm one of those that feel this car is worth way more than what some guide says. Maybe I'll just hold onto it.

Part it out ? Really ? It runs & drives fine with a clean title. So what if it's got a little front damage, that's easily fixed and when finished no one would know it was ever damaged.

I'm with you there. No sane person would pay me what I would want for either of my LSes. I feel like they would be expensive to replace to get something similar to what I have. On the other hand, I wouldn't pay that much for a used LS. In fact, just because of the parts situation, I can't see myself buying another LS. I hope to get a few more years out of both of mine.
