I read that people have ran 255/50r16 tires in back on stock rims without rolled lip, some rubbed, some didn't, it depends on the brand tire from what I read. I also read some people are running 275's in the back on aftermarket wheels with rolled lip, some rubbed, some didn't. I am having trouble finding info that applies to my setup. I bought the car already converted to springs, I just cut one coil all around which now sits just like my buddies Mark VIII with his aftermarket 1.6" springs. So lets just say mine is dropped 1.6" as well 'but keep in mind my car will probably be more bouncy than his though so Im sure that will be a factor when picking a tire size'. I have no problem rolling the lip if needed. So all that being said what size tire would I be safe running in back on stock rims? Any tips or tricks on how to run a wider tire? I don't mind rolling the lip, trimming/cutting things, etc.

Oh nice, 315's looks mean. Right now Im debating on running my factory 20 spoke rims but spraying them gloss black with a fatter tire in the rear, but if the reward is worth the money I wouldn't mind finding the perfect offset aftermarket rims for the back and running 315 street tires. This is a budget build Im working on the side so I don't wanna get too caught up in time and money.

I'm currently running this on my factory Mark VIII (Octi-star, 7.5", 108x5 (5x4.25), 16", 39mm offset)wheels

You would have to get a wider rim to run bigger, I'd do a hub swap if you're going down that route.

Hmmm, Iv been leaning on flat blacking my Mark along with a 3" cowl hood and black rims. If I do go that route then Im gonna need 315's in the back. Im gonna call Cragar this week about their black 17" steel rims and see if they have our bolt pattern with the perfect offset for a 315 tire. Any recommendations as far as what offset I should look for?

I ran P245/50R16's on the '96 and '97 with stock snowflakes on the '96 and chrome 10-spokes on the '97 LSC. They were pretty wide. And looked and handled great. I'm now running P225/60R16 stock width tires. They ride better and the speedo is spot-on perfect. But the handling isn't as crisp.

Since your opting for a wider rim than stock, here's a couple shots of mine. The rim started as 9in wide with a +36mm offset. However a company widen them so I'm not positive about the new offset, I would guess somewhere around a +50mm offset (just a guess). I'm running a 285/40/18 with no rolling of the fenders and almost a full inch clearance of the bigger addco swaybar.

Very Nice! These cars look SO good with fat tires stuck up underneath them. If you could could you post in this thread, it would contribute allot! Thanks!
