so i took the ol' Lincoln to the tire place to get a clunking checked out, they said there was some play in the wheel bearings, yes i learned my lesson no more autozone.
i'm checking out some bearings on rock auto. they have a timken for $55, and BCA/national for $71. what's a better buy???????????????????????????????????

I am pretty sure my last set was BCA and they are holding up fine. Before that was NTP or NPT or something and I replaced them a couple times.

man u guys down in the states are soo lucky. U have so many vendors and shops to choose from and thus everything costs relatively cheap. Whereas up north in canada everything costs an arm and a leg cuz we end up buying everything from u guys but get screwed on the taxes and duties.

You Know O/E frt hub/brg is only 103.98 retail and $74.87 each LVC and the rears from ford are 68.90 list and cost you 51.68 each.....the rears are also available as a ford racing part (in the O/E box with ford racing label on it) is 37.00 and cost you 30.00 each!! No tax but there is shipping. I have not had a concern with any of those hubs or brgs to date!!
max

How long do the rear bearings last I have 136k on the car. What's the best way to get those off if the threaded end of the half shafts is completly rusted over

Those are very competitive prices Max and the quality of OEM to aftermarket is worth the $5 more for the OEM parts...

If the end of the shaft is really rusted I would zap it off with an impact... if you don't have one just go down to a local shop and have them zap the nuts off for you.

My impact is special...

I bought it at an auction in the sticks... it was owned by an old guy who had been working on car forever.... he had a Snap On toolbox from the 1950's. It's a 1/2' Ingersoll Rand unit, it is old crusty dirty and looks like its been dropped off a lift many times.... That being said at 155 psi it has never let me down.
