when you say newer mark 8's....what does that mean exactly? bc as far as I know, gen 1 and 2 have exactly the same bolt pattern and offset...

What is the offset/backspace of the wheel??

An 8" wide wheel gives ya quite a bit of space to work with. Fitment should not be an issue from Gen to Gen...

36mm offset, backspace... if you mean for a mk8 I own an LS so I wouldn't know.

36MM if perfect for a MarkVIII...With an 8" wheel you can use a +25 to +40MM offset and be fine. I would rather it be somewhere in the middle of that though...Like say +36MM...

If the specs he has on them are correct I would say anyone interested in these should JUMP on them. Nice looking wheel.

They should be fine, I know the mk8's have pretty big wheel wells, I know a few guys running 275's around here.
