On a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII base model, where is the rear center brake hose ?

The only thing brake related in the center rear is the line running from the drivers side rail to the passenger side caliper. It crosses over the pumpkin along the body.

According to Raybestos, there's a rear center hydraulic hose that looks like this ...

well raybestos is wrong.
there is no "center" hose.
it is a 4 channel system, with lefts, rights, fronts, and rears.

After calling Raybestos technical support, I was told they don't work in the catalog department. They only look up part numbers and can't explain why this part shows up for this car.

The automotive part finder for Amazon, Rockauto and Dorman also show this same part.

Of course, they're all probably using the same database to determine that.

The parts technician at the local Ford dealer did find that this car does have (3) brake hoses.

Unfortunately, the diagrams the technician was looking at were so bad, it wasn't possible to determine where the third brake hose is.

Could someone post diagrams of the brake hoses, front and rear, for a 97 Mark VIII base model ?

Brake Diagrams for a 97 LM8 ?

Does anyone have diagram of the brake hoses for a 97 Mark VIII ?

Lownslowlsc,

Wow, custom design work !

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't understand why part stores and Ford think there's a third rear brake hydraulic hose.

If I had access to a service manual, perhaps I could see what Ford technicians are seeing.

I feel like it's some of my best work, definitely top 3.

Not sure why they list it, it doesn't even look like any of the 4 that actually belong on this car. Hopefully somebody can provide a more detailed diagram for you.

I was hoping that the FSM would have the hard lines, or more details, but this is basically all it has:

This is what it has for MN12 with ABS, not much better than a MS paint line drawing.

Bangster,

Another image with what appears to be hard line connections.

So you can't think of any place where (2) hard lines go into a hose with a metal block on one end and (1) hard line on the other ?

If that's the case, then there must be a typo in the database that links parts to vehicles.

Since it uses LHF-RHR and RHF-LHR cross over/diagonal split, and all that is done BEFORE the pressure control valves in the drivers FRONT wheel well, no.

Well then ...

Does anyone want to buy a fifth brake hose for a 97 Mark VIII ?

Can't be used, er, I mean ... Never been used ! ;)

The hose is real, but the installation is rumored.
