Just replaced the thermostat and noticed the temp gauge doesn't go as high as the old one. It's an exact replacement. So my question is, where does your temp gauge sit at? Mine sits at the top of the A it used to sit just above the M. My be a stupid question, Obviously I have to much time on my hands. But curious why it has dropped down.

That maybe the reason why it has dropped you just replaced the thermostat. I own a Town Car and my temp gauge reads at the M and all i did was replace the fan clutch, may replace the thermostat before summer begins.

Normaly that would be a good thing. Do you have the old T-stat? Is it stuck in the middle of its travel? Perhaps coolant was a little low or had an air bubble before you started. With your diligence in preventitive maintenance, you may have caught a problem before it grew.

Did You Burp The System After You Changed The T-stat
Yes, everything is running the normally its just that the gauge is resting in a cooler spot.

Thanks

When you say the T-stat was the same, does that mean the same temp(195*) or exactly the same housing? If the new T-stat had more open area it could flow more when open and hence the lower temps.
