Ok guys, the date is getting closer. I'm thinking in the next 4-6 weeks I'll be painting my black '97.

I need some input/opinions. Remember it is currently black on black. Interior is near mint but exterior has definitely seen better days. I'm opening this poll because I want to see what ppl's opinion would be if you had the blank canvas like I do & these options are in your range. Please vote & tel me WHY you choose the color & why you would NOT choose the others.

Notice I'm not veering too far off my current color. I'm not planning on painting the door jambs, trunk interior jamb or engine bay. Those will stay black. Trunk & door jambs are still glossy.

This is the current state of my car. Trunk, roof, hood weren't finished. sides are rough as well. Barely any dents, panels are great but they have ton's of scratches everywhere.

These are the options (Please NOTE I'm using other member vehicles for reference):

Deep Navy Blue (K4) (It's my favorite color right now. VERY RARE & very nice.)

Midnight grey (TB) (Please note I will go a couple shades darker on this color than factory if I end up choosing this color.)

Midnight black (UA) (It is the original color on the car, no changes, it's the color most of us want. A black on black Gen 2!)

FORGOT TO MENTION... THIS CAR IS A KEEPER, NOT A FLIP CAR!

I really like the blue, but since you arent jambing it I am gonna have to say black with a blue pearl top coat.

I thought UA was Ebony black ? all well. thats what im gonna use when i redo mine with an aqua blue flake.

My vote goes for the blue tho.

edit: after actually reading your post. I would chose a the blue. mostly because i like blue. the main reason im sticking with ebony is my car already had a black base and im poor. if i could totally take it down to metal and do it right with the jambs and everything. id so pick a blue. or some sort.

Black, it would drive me nuts to have two different colors. Two tone would work as long as half the original ext color was kept.

I know you already have your mind set on a couple choices..but if you like dark red colors at all..I would paint it ford lava red from the 2012 msutang..I LOVE that color..plus it's already dark, almost black so the door jambs and trunk tambs etc wouldn't be a problem.

I'm partial to black, but I voted for the Midnight Grey because I think that the way you want to do it (a bit darker than stock color) would look BEAUTIFUL.

I am fond of your idea!

You know? WTF MAN?!?!? You guys are supposed to make it easier, not harder! I LOVE that 2012 Mustang color!!! Fuuuuuuhhhh! :D

I've never seen that Lava Red. I've been thinking the same thing as you, Alex, but for further down the road. That Lava Red is smokin hot and unusual. I think the Mark would look incredible wearing that!!!! But all of your other choices are awesome, too. Decisions, decisions.

I love that lava red too.

I like the lava red :) That would probably be the best color listed thus far since you're keeping the jambs black. Really dark but just enough red to give it some pop.

It's really one of those colors you'd have to see in person.

I picked Midnight Grey, loved the color on Nolans Mark VIII. The Blue looks pretty sweet, though I am not a fan of Blue usually. Midnight Black, is the most common I believe on these cars, and is cheapest I am sure. Have it at work, and requires no mixing of other colors, just your plain black pretty much. I would like to buy my own painting supplies, and do my own car, what better way to start out. Also, our painter at work, said that it would be 300-400 a gallon. We use R-M Diamont though, so it will vary.

+1 On the Lava Rad being most expensive as I am sure there could be some rare colors mixed in with it, and could be a tri-coat.

I share the above opinions. I think I'm going to rule out lava red because I think its simply going to be too expensive.

Whether it be grey or blue I will kick it a couple shades darker so it can blend much better with the current black in/around the chassis of the car. Tomorrow I will be calling a couple local paint supply places to find out how much the gal is going for.

I would stay black. Unless, you are planning on doing a full color change. Don't change the color unless you are completely gutting the car and painting every nook and cranny. That way you will truly enjoy the new color.

Black is very sexy when taken care of, but also shows every little imperfection. I still dig the Midnight Grey though, but as Gman said if you dont mind painting every nook and cranny then go for it. On another note, just throwing it out there so give me a break, but who in the world has ever owned a Grabber Blue Mark? :D So, how much did the paint run?
