So last night after a 30 min or so drive, i pulled into my girls garage and a heard a whining noise. It seams to come from the pulley/ belt area, im beting its a pulley. I can hear the noise whenever i have the windows down. It makes this noise only when the engine is very warm on idle, or on a cold engine when accelerating slightly. Im thinking on taking it into the dealership as i have a 100dll deductible on my extended premium warranty. So what do you guys think?

It was very dark so wasnt able to get a great quality vid.

I had a whining noise on my mine for the longest but only heard it when the AC was one. Come to find out that the compressor was going bad had a leak in it. Just had it fixed this week. And sure enough the noise is gone. Took the car in for an possible oil leak because the car was saturated underneath and come to find out that my oil pan gasket, compressor and rack and pinon all had leaks. Ouch on the bill.

that sounds like a metal to metal noise not like a belt noise.

The question would be are all systems working?

If you want to figure out where that tinking sound is coming from, you may need a stethoscope device to nail it down as to where the noise is coming from.

I don't think is sounds bad enough to be critical but you're noticing it.

depending how much the shop will charge to make the determination, it may be cheaper to get a stethoscope and make the determination yourself.

If it's something you can't replace on your own, then it would be time for the shop

just my 2 cents, for what pennies are worth :)

I had noise from the tensioner and idler pulleys and had them replaced, but it didn't sound like that.

I have a noise now from the AC pulley/clutch and the dealership said it's coming from the compressor too... but it doesn't sound like your sound.

The mic on your camera could be misleading a bit on it's recording... isolate if it's on the passenger or drivers side, start with that. Passenger side would point towards the idler pulley on the GenII V8... (I would replace the idler and tensioner at the same time, if the sound is coming from either).

Thanks for the replies. When I recorded I made sure the ac comp was off so I think that may not be it. The location of the sound itself is misleading. It seams louder by the drivers side and very loud behind the car which I'm assuming was because of the slope of the driveway magnifying the sound to the rear. Didn't seam to come from the tranny or anywhere around there.

Car drives fine and fully operational other than the noise. My only car and need it working so the dealership it is on Monday. LS is an 06
