I have made the decision to replace my air struts with new units.
Who do you think I should purchase these gems from?
American Air Suspension? Strutmasters? or maybe Arnott industries?
Give me some feedback guys

Thanks in advance

if ur spending the money and ur mark is nice enough (aka gen 2, :) j/k) i'd get the oem bags from max at 5 star ford..i think he's the cheapest..If not get them from aas. Their the same as the ones arnott sells but way better customer support.

If i was still on bags and had money i'd get oem's..Arnotts are f'n junk. One mistake i'll never make again.

Stay away from Arnott. Complete garbage.Struts on my car were making all sorts of noises after 5 month of use.

Try to get factory bags. Do it once, but do it right.

All mine are new OEM. Wouldnt do it any other way.

I can't afford OEM. Darnitalltoheck. They're too dam expensive. I just can't justify the cost. So I've got Arnotts. Almost two years old and no problems yet. Knock on wood.

Arnotts are hit or miss..Unfortunatly both of mine were a miss.

Pretty good price on em as well. I'm ordering a new set of oem struts in a couple weeks for the 95.

Holy price gouging Batman! $369 bucks EACH!?!??!!??! Not for me. That's two weeks worth of groceries at my house. I'll stick to my $186 Arnotts. Even though they're too dam expensive too.

Yeah. My first set only lasted me 13 months. Then I went through a couple of sets of used fleabay air spring/shocks. Now the Arnott's appear to be made of better materials. The ones I have now seem to have much thicker rubbler in the bags and they're put together with more sturdy looking materials. I hope they'll last a while longer anyway.

Arnotts here also, going on 6-7 months now. Only issue I have had is their solenoids. They have caused some leakage while sitting. Replaced both and working so far.
Would say the ride is firmer, but for the savings, I can live with it. Taking about 35-45 seconds for the initial compressor cycle, first drive of the day.

yea, i havnt used them since they started putting that metal cup thing on the top...Could be better but as i said before i will never have to worry about the a/s again.

The best: OEM

The most affordable: American Air

By affordable I mean that if something blows, he will work with you. With Arnott you will be buying another one.

^This.

Eddie is the only other person I would get them from. I have heard too many horror stories of someone needing to replace their Arnott crap under a legit warranty claim only to get the run around and no resolution. Its like dealing with SCP.

That's interesting. I've had the opposite experience. My Arnott's are soft and mushy as heck. Even when brand new out of the box, they were much softer than the OEM's that came off my '96. And a LOT softer than the OEM's that are on my wife's LSC. That's my only problem with Arnott air spring/shocks. So far, no other issues with this set.

Only if something blows before the 12 month warranty. Same with American Air as far as I know. They all have 12 month warranties. If something blows after that, you're buying a new one regardless of who you buy it from.

American Air Warranty:

"NEW AIR STRUTS

Our new air struts are warranted for 1 full year from the day of purchase. The strut warranty DOES NOT cover the strut if the rubber air bladder has become "unfolded", as this was an installation error and the strut warranty will then be voided.

Any strut that is being submitted for a warranty claim will need to be shipped at the customers expense to the 311 Dry Fork Rd., Del Rio,TN. location and inspected by American Air Suspension before any warranty action is taken by American Air Suspension. If upon inspection, we find that the strut was damaged do to an accident or misuse, any and all warranty is void. If the warranty has been voided, the customer may request the part back, but at the customers expense. All warranties are for the original purchaser and are nontransferable. Warranty is for part replacement only and DOES NOT include labor."

That is almost exactly the same as the warranty from Arnott.

American Air even carries the "old style" Arnott air spring/shocks like the ones I bought 9 years ago that failed after 13 months, just one month over the warranty. And for only $358 a pair. That's not a bad price. But I wouldn't try them since they're the old design and apparently not the new and improved versions from Arnott that I currently have on my '96 that have been doing fine for over a year and a half. Again, knock on wood.

Someone is missing the point. There are plenty of accounts of people TRYING to exercise IN warranty issues with Arnott and failing.

And there are also examples of people working OUT of warranty with American Air.

Its not about warranty, its about service.

I have changed my fronts out several times I seem to be keeping lucky find someone that has one and sells me one cheap

That's nice. But I've never heard any of these examples. Of course, I've never tried to work out a warranty issue with Arnott either. When my air spring/shocks failed the first time, they were out of warranty. So I didn't bother. Either way, on paper, they both have the same warranty.

I talked to Arnott directly, about my fronts having the slow leak. At that point was not sure if it was a solenoid or the struts.
They will not just send you a new strut for the asking, you do have to show proof that there product is leaking or not right. They mentioned that they would ship me a replacement, and I would return the old one in the same box if it came to that.

I'm sure thats how every one else in the biz would do it.

As for the firm ride, I have all the braces from SCP welded on, so that could effect the shock/strut with less flexing of the whole platform, just a guess.

Eddie Spinks at American Air takes excellent care of his customers and offers both grades of Air Springs. He also has experience with our chassis as a past tech. His products are superb.

Ran arnotts on the 94 for 3 months and the strut let go inside the bag.

I said never again, and bought coils. That being said, tje 95 will remain air, and will be getting NEW OEM struts in a couple months.
