Who likes these air ride systems anyway

Love mine. Snow is gone so I just slammed it! Looks sleeeeeeek now :D

We what happens? Could be a compressor or the relay.

I was talking with Mafioso yesterday and he was saying that he had some luck by taking out the compressor taking it apart and cleaning that stator and brushes...

They are easy to take apart. Some small lubrication of the piston would help too. Very easy to do. I think I may take mine apart just as a seasonal thing.

Hmmm... I have an all new replacement custom system I will be installing this spring on mine... I happen to love air ride. Its cooler than the other side of the pillow

If you don't want to invest in keeping your air ride going then why buy a Mark Vlll? This otta get some flack going.

The only people that complain about air ride are the people who don't like maintaining it, but it really isn't that bad. As long as you don't wait to repair things, they're actually pretty reliable. That and, it's easy to repair.

The compressor was an hour job my first time, laying on my side with my fender pretty much on the floor. Main thing is making sure the damn air lines get pushed back in all the way.

How much of a pain in the a$$ are they really to clean? Maybe that what mine needs. When I hit the switch for it to lower the back takes about 10-15 times to lower. The front goes down fine but its the back thats a pain. That mite be my next project to get that compressor cleaned.

just like mine jason, at first it was fast then it got more and more times i had to hit the switch. im gonna try swapping the rear bags and see if it helps

When my air ride worked I like it, but I just changed to front coils and to me it rides the same. The rears are still air bags

the coils are broke in my T-bird (like most) maybe I should put in some air susp.
so it will last

I just replaced all the parts in my air ride system. I bought my car about two months ago and the system, it was shot. Now that the system is working I think it rocks!!! Its cool to watch your front end "sit" when you get out of the car... Just like a good doggy!!! hahaha

I love air ride.... no way I'll ever ditch it, but I can understand why for the impatient and cheap people they like to ditch it.

I will most likely replace the whole Air System. I noticed in my first ride of the car it was bouncy, and I don't like bouncy.

The compressor kicked in after toggling the air ride switch a few times but the rear isn't lifting. I waited for the front to drop then turned off the switch altogether. The car doesn't sag.

I will just replace the system as preventative maintenance. Might just have to rebuild the front end too, UCA, LCA, Tie rods, everything. Then replace the brakes with a system I saw on SCCOA along with the brake lines. Could be a pricey spring.

Anyone local to Boston Ma that is interested in some work? I don't have the time or the garage to rip the car apart and do it myself. It will take me a few weeks of a few hours here and there. I'll have to buy a house too and make it a really expensive spring. I don't see no stinking recession!

Stack - can you tell us about your system. I often thought about going aftermarket for the air ride.

I'll bite!

To get a 32 valver in an MN12 from the factory. Can't do that with a thunderbird or cougar.

he aint here yet, he's still hangin out with mafioso..

he just called me from one of his scavenger hunts in a JunkYard.

he said he was gonna leave dallas around 2 and head for houston.

So I haven't gotten to harrass him yet..

I like to rip on guys and tell them they should have bought a T-Bird.:D

I'm amazed. All the hot cars and most customs put in $4000 air ride systems.

Here's how much I liked my air ride- I took it off and have never regretted it. In fact I've got 4 good bags and solenoids and front and rear sensors I'll take $100 for all of it.I have the compressor too but its shot, you're welcome to it if you want it. Good Riddance.
