everytime i get in my car and take off within 5 minutes my brain tells me "hey i should put on my seatbelt" depending on what mood im in i either ingnore that suggestion or say to myself if i get into an accident i could go through the windshield and be in a wheelchair the rest of my life and buckle up....i just wanna do a little survey to see who is smart and buckles up.

i always buckle no matter if i go into someones car, or if someone comes into my car. I always say buckle up.

I, myself, prefer to have a restraint in the rare instance that I would get into an accident or worse yet, some of those boys with wrecked LS's hitting me..........jk.

Michigan Law - Click it or Ticket! - I Always wear my safety belt, not just because of a ticket, but now being able to pull you over "just" for a safety belt, not worth it and being safe is a lot easier :D

I always do.

If I'm going out just to drive - I wear the 'good belts'

YUP, i do!

I always have, such a simple thing to do. As for the people who say they are uncomfortable, i dont even know mine is there antmore. Make it part of your habit each time you get in your car.

Had my girlfriend and I not have had ours on, i might not be typing this right now!

I always wear seat belts. I totaled my Ford Ranger in March and I am glad I was wearing them.

never do in the city, i do when i'm on the highway, and when a cop pulls me over i put them on fast!

I am probably alive at least once and perhaps as many as twice since I always wear my seat belt.

My first accident was a rear ender at maybe 60mph. My Datsun wagon was totalled, it was smashed all the way to the back of my seat, and my seat was twisted back maybe 20 degrees. During the accident I was unable to see for a second or so(vision black out). When I was able to see, I was headed to the divider wall. Since the belt held me in place I was still able to control my car and avoid a much worse wreck. Only injuries were sore chest muscles and a few tiny pin pricks from flying glass.

This is possibly the biggest advantage in my mind of belts. The belt keeps you in your seat so you still have control. It also helps keep you in your seat if you are an enthusiastic driver.

I also once T'Boned a car maybe at about 20mph. Without the belt I probably would have flown thru the windshield. I was totally uninjured.

Last serious accident I had, March this year, I was in a 4 car pile up. I was thrown hard enough to shove the steering wheel down from it's normal position with just my hands. If instead I was unbelted, I probably would have a crushed chest from the steering wheel. Onlu injuries were stiff neck, sore wrist and banged knee.

One accident I was not in was a friend of mine. He had just bought a brand new Subaru Wagon and at that time he was just a teenager with just a year experience. He was up in the mountains and hit some ice and went over the side. He rolled several times. He said it was kind of fun, slow motion but speeding up. Anyway, instead of being thrown from the car he was fine and walked away from the accident. The belts saved him

Belts work way more often than they fail you. The risk of getting thrown or hurt is way higher without belts. And like I said they do help you stay in your seat when you are having fun.

I can't believe that there are actual people who like to drive without seatbelts...I thought we grew up outta that once we stopped eating glue. It's going to be you guys flying out the windshield once you get hit so it's not my problem...just try not to leave any guts on my rims ok?

I wear them 100% of the time. Had an accident where I T-Boned someone going about 40. Was wearing my seatbelt and still hit my head on the windshield. Not fun. As a kid they felt awkward and messed up my clothes. Figure now Id ratherlive and look like crap then die and look like crap with nicely ironed clothes.:)

Not wearing my seatbelt would be like me skydiving without my reserve parachute...sure everything usually goes well, but do I wanna take that chance...

I always wear mine. I'm suspicious of the shoulder belt, though. I think it'd cause whiplash. The whole point of airbags being invented was to take the place of seatbelts. Given my choice, I'd opt for lap belt plus air bag. I've been in 3 accidents in my old Chrysler with just a lap belt and never got hurt.

I wouldn't be here now if I was wearing my seat belt back in '86. That being said, I always wear mine now. I figure I already beat the odds. I do believe it should be a persons choice, only because wearing a seatbelt can kill you too. It's rare, of course.

I can't believe there are people who still drive without them (3-point system)!!! A word of caution to those of you who use a 4-point system without a roll bar/cage: if you roll your car, you better hope the roof doesn't cave in because the two shoulder belts will keep your body propped up. I instruct at BMW CCA driving schools and it is common for students who don't know better to show up at the race track with the above. After the dangers are explained to them, most go back to their 3-point system.

hey thanks for scaring me into wearing my seatbelt all the time...call me a fool but when a hot girl is in my ride...i just cant do it :Bang

only 3-point are DOT compliant (since they use the factory mounting points, the SCHROTH I use can actually be ordered as a factory add-on now from BMW.

I was in an accident involving me, my car, and a tree, about 1/4 mile from my house that caused me major mouth and facial damage. The messed up thing is that I acutally got in the car and thought," I don't need my seatbelt, I'm just going down the street". It sounds like a commercial, but I did think just that. Ever since then, I can't drive a car without wearing my seatbelt.

The fact remains that a 4-point system without a roll bar/cage is dangerous because you head is propped up in a great position for a caved-in roof to snap it in two! Does BMW disclose any such dangers?
