New motor, fuel injectors, fuel filter, new tires, clean air filter, new 02s. Ect..
Most of my driving is In town stop n go with some freeway. Mods, Sct chip, steeda uds, 12c plugs. I can only manage 200mpt on cal 91 octane, why?

I have never ran mine down super low so I don't know how many gallons I can fit it when empty. Also what is your driving style? are you grandma all the time. Of young and fast?

He said he WAS hand calcing it.

Yeah, unless he is totally running it out of gas and then towing the car to the gas station to fill it... I don't see him hand calculating it. Plus from my understanding, the Mark VIII has 18 gallon capacity.

You need to fill the car up and reset your trip meter. Next time you fill it up, note how many gallons and miles the car has driven. Then do the this Miles driven/Gallons

BTW I get 240 miles per fill up at 1/4 tank. 50 city and 50 hwy

That is what I get, 10mpg miles/gal and I have a moderate driving style, I don't punch it all the time, mostly cruising 35 to 50 mph stop n go.

damn that sucks i usually get 300+ on a full tank and i drive like a bat out of hell

I can get 325 miles and then I'm down to a 16th of a tank. Average 23.7 50/50 driving. If your only getting 10 mpg, you definitely have a problem!

leak

My 95 avg 19.8 but wife has heavy foot. Leak or need locking gas cap My 98 17.9 mpg,but it goes faster

Best mpg I ever got out of a Mark was when I first got my '96 with 65k miles on it. I drove it from West End, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC and got 30+ mpg round trip:eek: After that, the mpg's declined as the mileage increased:D The '97 with 210k miles gets an average of about 22mpg driving 70-80 miles round trip every day. About 70% highway miles. She needs O2 sensors and air and fuel filters right now. But she's still got that bad coil (which will be replaced tomorrow thanks to a very nice member here:)). Hopefully I'll be back on the road Thursday.

I would be very worried and slightly upset if I were only gettin 10mpg. That's ludicrous!

I always thought we had 16 gallon tanks but I could be wrong. Anyway, to the OP, I would consider changing your plugs to at least Autolite 764's or Motorcraft Platinum to help out with mileage. 764's are going to give a little less but more performance than Platinum. Make sure the gap is correct too. Check for fuel leaks also. Try to find 93 octane, if it's in your area.

If you're only getting 10mpg out of a Mark, you've got a major leak somewhere or a few cylinders have lost compression, or you're using an oil rag as a gas cap, or someone is stealing your fuel every night.

-waits for the funny "it has an anti-siphon valve" comment-
