What an idiot! It does not look like the car is horribly damaged. It looks like he hit the gas...several times! I was driving a stick shift unsupervised at 14 (in my neighborhood) and I never did anything like that!
I had something like that happen to me once in a Jeep Wranlger. Between the horrible seating and pedal setup (for me) and the engine torque, I wound up taking a "clutch pulse ride" across a parking lot. It happened so fast I don't remember exactly what hapend, but I think I'd get the clutch almost disengaged, then my momentum would push me forward and my knee would buckle, allowing the clutch to re-engage, and my foot would push the loud pedal, and the Jeep would take off again, then I'd step back down on the clutch, and the process would repeat--this happened three or four times in rapid succession before I could get my hand on my knee to help get the clutch pedal all the way down. (Maybe I pulled the transmission out of gear, I don't remember exactly.) In real time, it took a second or two, but I swear I was waiting for the pickup rider to call eight!
Fortunately, I didn't hit anything, but the guy in the passenger seat damn near got whiplash from it. And I learned that I am not built to drive a Wrangler. In all my years of driving manual transmissioned cars, trucks, and tractors, that never happened to me before or since...
