with an amp running from the far part of the trunk, is a 17 foot RCA long enough? I dont want clutter especially since my stereo already has alternator noise with the existing rcas.

Chris

if it has alternator noise u need to run the power and turn on lead on one side of the car and the rca's on tha other and that will take care of your problem

It should be. I ran 17 ft from the radio, down the passenger side, and to an amp on the drivers side of trunk. Came up about 2 ft short, so I put on a connector and 3 ft rca. AS long as you don't run them like me, 17 should be fine.

Make sure to run double sheilded RCAs to avoid most interference, and as jthorn75 said, try to keep them away from power or ground cables as much as possible.

i wish i could remember what length mine are. i ran some stuff thru the passenger side, and some thru the driver side, but i have plenty of room, i didnt have to extend them. everything snaps on & off pretty easy, but iirc, its a pain to get the wires into the trunk once you got them going under the back seat... get a hanger ready!

definitely want double sheilded rca's! 17' sounds about right...good luck, you'll have fun! :)

Rule of thumb, run RCAs on the opposite side the battery is on, Since the battery in in the trunk, however, it really doesn't matter but still there are stock power wires run on the pass side. To rid the alternator wine try grounding your HU to a nice location, use higher quality RCAs, Wire amp directly to the + and - on the battery(its close enough), and if at all possible run a huge wire from alternator - to the ground location. I used a 20' RCA and hid the excess un the spare tire compartment.

another good way to run rca cables is right down the middle under the carpet of course and if you can get it under the center console. Most car i Have done is done right through the center. That way you 17 feet will go a lot further rather than going around obstacles. If this is in an ls you shouldn't have any problems running them beside a batter cable until it gets to the trunk.
