Will 215/60/R16 tires with 16 x 7, 53 offset work?

I've got an '00 LS V8 with the sport package, and want some winter tires/wheels.

I'm trying to find some skinny snow tires to put on it, and found a set of 215/60/R16's somewhat near my parent's place, with wheels for a Thunderbird, with 53mm offset. I presume since the tires are 20mm skinnier (which makes them 10mm shorter on the outside, and 10mm shorter on the inside), and the offset only moves the centerline 7mm towards the outside, then my tires are actually going to extend 3mm LESS towards the outside than the stock tires, correct?

Good question, definately wait for a pro on this one. Wait for Ken (GrayGhost), or Lou (QuikLS). They're the most knowledgable people on the site and I wouldn't risk taking advice from anyone else. Personally I think you'll be fine, 16's are really big enough to rub, but I definately could be wrong. Make sure the bolt pattern is the same.

Are the T-bird bolt pattern the same? If you don't get an answer I'd try mounting one before buying.

Last season I ran 205/55/16R (a little short but worked well). This year I just bought some 215/60/16R, but haven't installed yet. I use Jaguar S 16 inch wheels for the snows and the Stock 17s for the summer tires.
