Ford Inside News learned the RWD Lincoln should be powered by a member of the Nano engine family, most likely a 2.9-liter EcoBoost V-6. Also, the Lincoln coupe would have a slightly larger wheelbase. As for the name, a Mark Series nameplate would seem appropriate, as nearly all previous Lincoln coupes sported a Mark name.

If it happens, the engine bay will probably be able to swallow a SC 4.6L which would at least give us a new Mark with some of our current modular V8 engines. Time will tell.

sweet, but that tail light my god. 2nd gen marks have probably the coolest in the world. This one is uh, well eeewwww. Anyone else see any thunderbird resemblence's? On the side's a little?

Looks almost exactly like a cross between a 10th and 11th generation thunderbird from the rear to me. Not very flattering for that concept.

All they need to do is make it again except have it not critically flawed that it fails 100% of the time after only a few years.

That top pic you posted is way old probably from the mid 2000s..someone made that rendering after the 05 mustang came out. The other links you posted arent that new either, the two concepts look like a later model thunderbird two seater..far cry from the bigger two door lincoln coupes.

You are right.

Those are probably the only photos they have but I am sure the new Mark will have a more up-to-date, state of the art design in the drawing boards.

The new Mark is anticipated to debut next fall (2015). I can't wait to see what it will look like.

I wonder if the fear mongering the articles are talking about of Ford shuttering Lincoln if the new models fail to meet expectations are true. It doesn't seem like they'd let the Lincoln name fail after the millions and millions they've spent the last couple of years on it

Wouldn't it be a Mark IV? I am not holding my breath for anything from Ford with the Lincoln brand to compete with any Cadillac coupes, or most of their sedans.

They better call it the Mark IX. I hope it's not a V6 but that sounds likely. Really should be the coyote to get the kind of attitude that Lincoln needs! It better not look like the pictures cause that looks hideous. A modern interpretation of a Mark VII would look good I think with the best design cues from other Marks as well. It doesn't need the current Lincoln butterfly grille that's for sure. They should put a really far out interior in it like they did with the Mark VIII

I thought this was a better rendering.

This would look good if it were stretched a bit..looks too much like a chrysler two seater whatever the hell its called..cant think of the name of it off the top of my head..and redesign that grille.

That (to me) looks exactly like the MK-whatever line they have now. If they want a Mark to stand out as a flagship car they need something that you can look at and immediately know what it is.

One of the latest rendering I found. A Lincoln coupe based on a Mustang GT platform penned by Lincoln design manager, Robert Gelardi, at Ford North America in Dearborn, MI.

The pictures in those articles is of the Lincoln Mark X of about 10 years ago. It was based on the DEW98 Thunderbird platform. It was an a pretty cool car. But never intended for production. It is unlikely the beancounters will allow Lincoln to produce a RWD car any time in the forseeable future. As long as they can spit out re-badged wrong-wheel-drive Fords and make a modicum of profit, nothing will change. They are apparently aiming at Acura instead of Cadillac at this point. That's sad, but true. Lincoln desperately needs a RWD V-8 powered flagship. But the beancounters at Ford are too stupid to realize how far down market Lincoln has fallen in the past few years. Since the demise of the LS, Mark VIII, and most recently the Town Car, there are no longer any RWD V-8 powered Lincoln cars. That is what is hurting Lincoln. Premium luxury car buyers want RWD and a V-8 or even a V-10 or V-12. Not a sideways V-6 or four-banger driving the wrong wheels. Ford will let Lincoln die before they give in and actually build a good, competetive RWD car.

Sadly, but true. Lincoln needs to get their heads out of the sand and get with the program.

I was in the market for something with four doors with nicely appointed interior and lots of features. Originally looked at Lincoln. It was close, but none of the current models fit the bill.

Hey Rich, I wanted to get a Lincoln at first, but I decided to get one similar with rwd.
