Window Regulator Clip Retainer Pin Suggestions

2005 LS - Rear Window

I replaced the window motor and regulator a few weeks ago with a Dorman replacement. I seat the retainer pin in properly, but within 3 days it has fallen out each time I have gone back in to redo it.

Anyone put a "home made" pin together? Or anyone have suggestions?

once each on both of my LSs that has happened, I put the two part pin back in and never had a problem with either one again.

are you sure you have both parts? there is a center pin that expands the main pin out a little to keep it snug.

Some folks have successfully used a wooden dowel rod in theirs. I used a piece of duct tape wrapped to the correct diameter in mine as a temporary measure, but so far it's lasted well enough. Been in there a year or so like that. I might replace it, I might sell it as is. Be told, I almost never roll the rear window down that's using the rolled up duct tape as a retaining pin but I did use it a few times when it was friggin hot outside (Oklahoma summers) when duct tape would be at its weakest and it worked OK.
