So I just had the drivers side front window do exactly what my passenger window did. We put a new window regulator and motor on the passenger side. BUT my question is: is it just the window regulator that is bad or the motor too. I was told they came together. But I saw on someone elses thread that it now comes seperate. Do you think I need the motor too?? Do you have to get these from Ford or does Auto Zone carry them. That may be a really stupid question. Sorry!

thanks for any and all replies!!

why dont u get a power tester and test exactly what the problem is.. i havent had a window problem in a while so i really dont remember.. but i believe u can buy them seperately

you should be able to hear if the motor is working. In many cases it is a little plastic retainer on the regulator that is bad.

I would shop with five star listed below in my signature and they are a club sponsor. I bought 99% of my parts from them.

always the regulators never the motors.

if its crunching when you use the switch, just get the regulator.

My same window just did the same thing a couple days ago, when i searched for the part it says the regulator comes with the motor. I search on www.fastpartsnetwork.com but i also looked at other OEM parts and they all say the same.

Thanks for the replies! I got the window regulator and motor from FORD last nite for $142. A friend mechanic is gonna put it on today for $40. When my passenger window went out we found a used one from a wrecked car for $40.We didn't have time to look around for a used part as we are going to Nashville tomorrow so we had to get it fixed today.

I don't know if they're similar, but on my old T-Bird SC, there was a nylon gear that served as a failsafe to tear itself up and save the motor. I blew two or three and they were pretty cheap.
