This may sound trivial - but my '99 Conti is a little weak in the Window Washer area. The passenger side is better than the driver side (I assume because the feeder line hits the passenger side first). The passenger side barely put fluid above the wipers, while the driver's side doesn't even hit the window. Suggestions?

One of the most idiotic things Ford designed on these cars was the position of the Waher Fluid Lines.

Every Single Continental from 95 and up has or will have this problem.

The washer fluid line is a bit long and most of it sits on top of the engine. I know, I know, very stupid. A thin fragile rubber hose sitting on a super hot engine for a couple of years. They harden up, become britle and then crack or break apart.

Even if the hose sat on the engine. The rubber hose should of been designed to be stronger and you might have to pull of soom of the Hoods insulation to really get to the hidden crack.

This is you issue. As all I can remeber icluding the continentals my dad and I have had. All together about 13 from 1995 and up, and every single one of them had that issue. Even the 2001 I have now.

Thanks folks - that was it - a leaky line. Do I need to go to the dealer to get a replacement, or would a place like NAPA be able to get one for me?

You can definately get this at a dealership, but if you go to NAPA or the like and bring in your hose you can get a replacement (raw hose) from them as well.

Bulk hose works fine. Any autoparts store will have it, just bring a sample of yours - buy more thatn you need, better to have too much than too little!
