im looking ot get my windshield tinted and was wondering if anyone has it done to their ls. i know its illegal and i wasnt gonna get it real dark. maybe 35% or lighter. anyone got anypics or let me know what you think. stupid or go for it. i get a deal on tint so that why i ws gonna do it.

Personaly, I think winshield-tint is quite tacky.

No- just plain ugly. Getting it done just because you can get it at a discount or bargain rate isn't a good reason to do it, asthetically or finacially.

YMMV

It's illegal for a reason...

Personally, I think anything that reduces visibilty out the windhield is a Really Bad Idea(tm), regardless of what a Really Great Deal(tm) it is. Sure, I wear my Ray-Bans when I drive, but I can switch back to my normal glasses in low-light conditions; ya just don't have that sort of flexibility with a tint job. I'd say I'm surprised that you'd find a tinter who'd do the job, but then I remember that cash talks... :slam

I see ricers (is that an allowable term here?) driving around with this constantly- but then if I recognize their stickers later (these cars are also identifiable by the insane spoilers, poorly mounted body-kits, 7" exhaust tips, etc..) I notice the winsheild has no tint..

Hope that kid could get the money to pay the ticket from mommy..

I tinted the windshield on my last vehicle. It was actually quite nice and I never got hassled, but I do live in the armpit of the south (ie alabama). I tinted it a bit lighter than the rest of the windows so that it wasnt as noticable. I did it to help reduce glare at night time from other cars headlights. It was very effective. I have very sensative eyes and sometimes would find myself looking away due to glare and weaving before I did the tint.

But everyone has their own opinion.

Tinted my windsheild and looks very nice. Limo on the back windsheild and rear doors. One shade lighter on front windows, and lightest shade on windsheild. It really helps with glare.

I agree

I tell you what i love the way my car looks with the tinted windows. But make sure its real good tint. You can get real light tint and it will keep out a lot of uv rays. One thing i love with my windows is in the summer when the suns glaring down from the sides i don't have to squint and i can look out the windows directly in the direction of the sun and not get blinded .. i will try to upload a pic of my ls .. i think it makes it stand out a lot from the one or two other ls in town.

I dont know about tinting the windsheild, it just makes the gauges really hard to read when it's not super sunny, and doesn't look as great as just tinted windows. My friend has a 4runner with 3% tint all the way around and a layer of 35 on his windsheild, it's just too dark for me. He hasn't had any legal trouble with any of his tint.

ive seen cars with it. it doesnt look bad i just think (personally) other than the windshield I really wouldnt want anything in my vision.

I can appreciate the headlight glare knocking your line of sight off track at night. The grey light is another blinder for me too. But i use a very light pair of sunglasses for night driving and during rain storms.

does anyone make tint that adusts to the light? sort of like eye glasses, the brighter it is the darker they get. that would solve a lot of the dispute over tint.

To each, his or her own... just as long as it does not impact your ability to see animals, people, etc. on the side of the road or dark intersections at night....

I don't think you would want to justify windshield tint to a judge, let alone - a dead child's parents...

no doubt. My eyeglasses are very light tint just enough to break the glare. I could not imgaine have the guilt of hurting or killing someone on my mind. The shop that installs the tint would most likely get sued as well maybe even criminally prosecuted.

Accidents happen but something like this could be asking for big trouble.

I tinted my windshield with 35 percent and the rest with 20 and I love it, I wouldn't have it any other way. It looks a lot cleaner and the only time I notice a difference is on country roads. But I work third shift and drive 30 miles to work, so the cut down on glare from other vehicles is the best. Also the fact that i don't have to wear sunglasses on sunny days is pretty nice too.

I stopped reading about half way down, not sure if this was said or not.

You could go with a very light tint, around 75% VLT. That would cut down on the glare, UV rays, and heat inside the car but wouldn't make it darker, and cops would never know. I have thought of doing that since I live in AZ.
