Windshield Wiper Noise

I have a 2001 LS V6 Sport. Nice car, but the windshield wipers make a lot of noise when they change direction. It is not the rubber wiper on the windshield screeching type of noise, but a clank, clank type of noise when the wipers reverse direction at the top. Very loud. They are not hitting anything at that point. Has anyone had this problem or know what to do to eliminate it? Thanks for your help.

If your talking about a bang, mine does that..

Yes. It is a bang. I can even hear it over the phone when my wife calls from the car. Shouldn't be that loud. Are they all that way?

I don't notice any bang or noise on either of mine. Perhaps your wiper linkage is worn?

My '01 does the same thing. It looks like my driver side wiper goes to far and is maaaybe hitting the outside of the a-pillar.

Mine is also worse on the driver's side, but it is not hitting anything. It makes the turn around before it gets to the edge of the window. Still, a loud slapping noise.

Yess.. It doesn't hit but it is only the drivers side.. Mine does it when the wipers are going considerably faster..
