Won't rev properly?

hello everyone. I have been watching this forum for some time and joined the other day. I recently purchased a 02 ls8 and this morning I was just sitting in my car and decided to play with the gas. I revered it up, but at 3000 rpm it started to act like it was being governed. Is this a problem with the car or a feature of the nice computer on the ls. I was sitting parked when i did this. It also would not rev above 3000rpm so that is why i was wondering if it was governed. During everyday driving it will run out beatifully all the way to the red line.

What you experienced is the rev limiter. All LS's have it around 3000 rpm while in Park or Neutral.

You can remove this - using the SCT XCalibrator and re-flash your PCM.

I'll tell ya, the 3.9 sounds pretty mean at like 5k+

Now if we could only figure out a way to make that into a two-step ;-)
