I will be showing my Lincoln LS in WOW in St Louis March 10-12. Any members that attend, feel free to stop by and say "hi".:)

Too bad that's not the weekend of April 1st. I'll be in St. Louis that weekend for a track meet. I'll be coming down Friday and not sure if I'm staying yet Saturday night or not.

Whos track meet? I use to run the 800 and 1600 in high school and the 800 and 1500 in college.:)

Meet is at Washington University Starts March 31th and end April 1st.

Daughter runs the 400 for the University of Wisconsin Platteville.

It's the only meet I can make for my oldest daughter as I coach High School track. I have meets every other outdoor meet she has except that one. Thought it would be fun to head down and see.

I'll be looking for a Hotel near the campus for that weekend. Any suggestions?

I don't need plush but something nice and easy access.

I suggest Comfort/Quality Inn or Motel 6 in Caseyville Illinios off I-64 on Illinios route 157. Its about a 20 minute drive from the campus(with me driving anyway, ). Where do you coach?

I coach at Boscobel High School. I am their sprint coach. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=19302

My daughters both love track and have been very successful. My oldest broke a long standing record in the 400 the same day that another runner did it. She's the second fasted 400 runner for our school with no recognition of her feet. If here team places in the top six she'll get All American status. A plaque will be sent to her High School. She will be one of two All Americans our High School has ever had. She will finally be recognized!

My youngest has had no problems at recognition. She broke the school 200 m record her freshman year and acquires medals like crazy every meet.

They are great kids..

Impressive!!! Wish her luck for a fellow runner. I hope her team does well.:)

I was never fast enough to run the sprints. I was a middle distance runner with above average speed for the 800 and 1600. Coach put a watch on me for my last 100 of an 800 race one time. Clocked me at 11.1. Goodtime, but I was at a full sprint when he started the clock. I ran 1:53.1 800 that race. I ended up running division III too. Monmouth College in Illinios.

1:53 very nice run for an 800. What I hate most about going to the college track meets is the bug to get out and run. But being that I'm 45 years old and use to be a sprinter. Ummmm well. My goal this season is to get myself to be able to open up for a good 200 meters. I can still run an ok 100m for my age but my wind only last for that 100 meters.

Did you compete in college? I definately know the feeling. I see a track meet and just want to compete. I recently started running again. Wife and I had a daughter. Next thing I know I am 214lbs. I started running again to lose the weight. I am up to 4 miles day. I run a 9 minute or so pace mile. Its just depressing to struggle to maintain a 9 minute mile pace. When I use to run a low 4 minute mile. Then again that was 17 years ago. I have managed to drop down to 197lbs in 5 weeks. I feel stronger and in much better condition. I am aiming for 185lbs or 180lbs. Even considering a road race or two. 5K maybe.

BTW The 1:53 was in high school. I never really peaked in college. I ran a lot of strong/solid 1:55's and 1:56's, but never really blow up a big time. I did manage a few good low 4 minute miles thou.

I ran only my Senior year. Ran 100 m, 200 m and the 4 x 100m relay. We had a pretty good team and had a lot of fun and success. Our relay team just missed going to nationals as members got injured. Early in the season we almost qualified then the injuries started to come and everything fell apart. Got my 200 m time down to 22.2 so I was pleased. Was hoping to break the 22 sec. mark. Guess taking those 3 years off didn't help. LOL..

22 flat is cruising.:burnout:

I was fortunate enough to have never gotten injured. It would have driven me nuts to miss a meet or race becuase of an injury. I use to beg the coach to put me in more races. Many times I ended up running a leg in the 4x400. Usually because someone got injured. The good old days.

On one of my good days I was not suppose to run as I had torn a blood vessile in my leg.

Coach and I did a good workout on the back stretch as I was not suppose to run that day. Then our #2 sprinter went down. Coach said your in. I looked at him like "Your full of $hit. (I didn't like to sit out either but this leg hurt)

So I ran 2 200's that day both in the low 22's. Leg hurt like hell but still did it.

Hey this track talk has to stop... It's getting me too excited. Season starts on Monday!!! it's killing me! LOL.... I love the sport!

I agree. I have been getting a little charged up too.

Back on topic. Hopefully some memvers stop by at the show. I plan to show the LS a lot this summer. I will post future shows and locations. That I will be attending. Possibly meet up with other members like yourself.

You should get fired up. COACH!!!!:D How does your team look for the up coming season? Any state qualifiers? Good relays?

Well numbers have been down for a bit. But we do have quality.

We use to be strong in the distance area now our sprinters are coming on but distance is going down.

We have potential state qualifiers mainly in the girls. 1600, 400, 200, 100, and Pole Vault and Long Jump.

Quality is important. How about the under classmen? Potential in the future?

In our small district you have to wait and see.

The distance potential for state is in a Sophmore, sprints in a Junior. Those potentials are from only 2 runners LOL... They are that good.

This year we got dropped down to division III so it increase our chances. The two just missed qualifying last year in division II. Had they been in Division III last year they would have qualified in the Pole Vault, Long Jump, 200, 1600, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400.

If those two girls could qualify in those events then we'd even have a chance to win state as a team. Sometimes only 30 pts can win at the state level.

They are talking about changing this and have a true team state team meet but it won't happen this year.

There is a pretty good Junior High girl coming up for next year. We'll see

Good potential to build for the future. The schools here are Jr Highs 7 and 8 grade and high schools are 9 thru 12. Illinios has two divisions A and AA for track. AA being the larger schools. The cut off I think is 1000 students enrollment. Several schools every year end up going up a class or down a class.

I ran AA. Depending on how you look at it. I was either lucky or unlucky with my schools conference. We had East St Louis Senior(Jackie Joyner Kersee is an alum) in our conference and East St Louis Lincoln(school is closed now) in our regional and sectional meets. Two best track teams in the state in our area. Had ro run against them every weekend. It was depressing, but it made us better runners.

Jackie wow! that's cool. I spent a day listening to Carl Lewis' coach. It was so cool. for all your questions he would demonstrate the answers using you as and example which really helped understand techniques. Because he wasn't the greatest speaker may coaches blew him off as a Joke. but hey he coached Carl... He must have known something.

He was very helpful.. to bad Carl didn't come with him.
