so tonight i punch out and my boss starts talking to me about possibly hiring my buddy who really wants to get into the metal fabricating field i am in, and says we got some good jobs coming up, including a huge security gate for a V.A hospital in miami, we are 6 hours from miami, i asked him, cant they get anyone closer?? he says yes but the contractor who wants us to make it is local to us. so its a crash gate, all steel, 10 feet tall by 15 feet wide and 12 inches deep, all the outer frame will be 4" x 4" x 1/4 wall steel, gonna weigh about 5000lbs when done and have two 4x4x1/4 sliding pins going into a 48 inch thick concrete wall, they estimate it could stop a semi at 40 mph dead in its track. we'll have to build it, then drive it down on our flatbed to miami and install it and stay over in miami for the night, pretty cool i said, then he tells me this, chris is the guy who runs our shop, my boss said did chris tell you about the job we put a bid in on, i said no? he said well we put a bid in a job far away and if we get it we have to fly there after we build it to install it, i said fly?? fly where, he says bermuda, no f-ing way lol sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. he said if we get the job, we have to build it, then put it on a barge with a bunch of our tools and ship it over, when it gets there, 5 of us will get on a plane and fly down there to install it and have a little vacation, he said he'll pay for all of it as well. i hope to god we get this job that would be the coolest thing i have done in my life. who would think a few welders for a local shop getting on a plane to bermuda to install some stuff we built in florida!!! that would kick ass!!!
