I followed all the guidelines which I found at lskoncepts.com under Tech Articles, License Plate Surround Painting, purchased paints as specified. Primer was no problem except when I gently wet sanded to find exposed chrome on edges near center emblem and on the outside of surround due to the black plastic gasket which completely encases the surround. Knowing this would be a problem area when sanding I used extra care in removing the chrome finish. I re-primed area and finished base coat and clear coat only to have chrome areas appear once again when using 3-M polishing compound. Some areas also had contamination under paint in some areas which left blotches. So, I wasted a total of $130.00 for a surround and paints, sandpaper, etc. If I have to try again, I'm going to carefully remove the black plastic gasket to ensure the rounded edges are completely sanded and re-attach the plastic gasket with Goop Household Glue. The rounded edges have the biggest build up of chrome due to the adhering process during manufacturing. If project is not done correctly the chrome will leach through over time due to environmental and weather conditions.
