Does anyone who uses the Xcalibrator 2 have more than the premium fuel tune that is more aggressive that would care to share? I got my Xcalibrator from Reinhart Motorsport in Florida and only got one tune and I tried contacting them for additional tunes, but got no responses. So anyone who can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

you cant really share tune files unless you have the same catch code.
mine came with a performance tune and a performance +2 degree tune. I was told to run the +2 file unless it pinged.

+1.

If you got the same box code then you're set. If you dont, then your SOL.

It may be beneficial for people to post their box codes up and let others know what tunes thehy have and what works. Create kind of a SCT MK8 tune database. The tuners won't like that too much, but oh well. Of course the swapping tune idea would only work if the cars had the same box code and also the same mods too.

yeah, thats the kicker. same mods and same desires for the car. I do have a tune for economy that i am rather happy with.. had them pull plenty of timing too so that it makes me keep my foot out of it :)

cant you guys use the liveload feature with the xcal2 and adjust your base performance tune to where you want it?

i dont have xcal as i have obd 1 ,but i had a xcal2 for my wifes taurus awhile back,i took the tune i bought and played with the a/f ratio and timing until it was one step from pinging on hi octane,it worked wonderful,

or are you talking about something completely different here?

I'm sorry to hear you fell prey to Dennis' crappy customer service. His customer Service (or lack thereof) is widely known on the SCCoA and to a lesser entent, IIRC, TCCoA and other such big forums.

You are pretty much SOL with him, and I wuoldn't trust any tunes from him. Knowing him, he'll probably blame SCT for only having one tune on the XCal 2 you got from him.

Contact Keith at Arizona Dyno Chip in Phoenix, or the guys at vmptuning.

I'm sure others will chime in with their favorite tuners.

Torrie at Fastpartsnetwork.com is who i used. Awesome service and communication.

Yeah, you can use the liveload to mess with your files, IF the tuner gives you the files. you cant pull them off the xcal and tweak them. you need the files from the tuner, tweak them, then drop them to the xcal.

Yes, Torrie has been great to work with, he answers my questions within hours. You should e-mail him and see what you two can work out. He really knows his stuff.

Thanks Guys, This is Why LVC is the Best!

I really appreciate the feedback and I will post what help I get from Torrie. I also will be posting pics of the new 18's I just put on the Mark last night. My wheel folks hooked me up with a corvette/mustang gt setup. I have 245/45/18's in the front and 275/45/18's in the rear. All I can say is my car's ass looks fat and handles very nicely in the twists. Thanks again guys.

Corvette/Mustang GT setup

Larger width tires in the rear than in the front, but the same profile. My actual rims are wider in the rear than in the front, therefore I can have the wider tires in the rear than in front safely.

Liveload works with the .LL3 tunefiles that are the ones that allow on-device adjustability for certain things.

ExtremeTune is the program that allows a person to adjust certain things with the .XTR tunefile on the computer.

Those programs only do so much though. Messing with the a/f settings in ET is just not too smart being that things are so generic on that program. About the only thing I would have ever messed with in ET was rear gears reset, speed limiter reset, and maybe bumping spark advance down a little bit for whatever reasons.

Xcal2

I have the Xcalibrator2 which I use on my 1999 Ford F150 Supercharged truck. There's probably alot of good tuners in your area that can help. My tuner emails the files to me which I download to my unit. You should have gotten three performance tunes with the Xcal2 (I think). If I need something changed, I contact him and he shoots it to me pretty quick. I have used the LiveLink but don't know enough to make changes. I have found the SCT website to be very helpful especially the Xcal2 forum. Ryan with SCT spends alot of time answering questions and solving problems/issues.

Livelink is the program used to datalog with the Xcal2. You cannot make any changes with it.

Liveload, loads the .LL3 files to your Xcal2 which you can then mess with settings for your tune with the on-device adjustments.

ExtremeTune lets you modify and load your tune file if it is in .XTR format.

The .XTR and .LL3 files are essentially the same thing (in laymens terms) except that the XTR gets adjusted while still on the computer where as the LL3 file can be adjusted after already being loaded on the Xcal2. ;)

I should have said LiveLoad not LiveLink. Wish I knew enough about it to make changes if possible. After seeing your post, the guy who did mine emailed a copy of a .xtr file which I can download to my Xcal2. These are just new tunes with adjustments from previuos ones.

Torrie Is Da Man!!!

Torrie hooked me up with a great tune that was nice and aggressive for my computer on my 97 Mark VIII LSC, RKK3. He did it all for me in one day with great comms back and forth via email. He was very responsive and helpful. All I can say is that his tune vs. what I got from Dennis at Reinhart was night and day. I would recommend Torrie hands down if you need a tune for your Xcalibrator 2. By the way, I have an extra Xcalibrator2 that if you contact Torrie and let him know the code of your PCM and you can use the extra Xcal I have.

I have Torrie's tune on a SCT chip and it is perfect... he has the tune down for Mark VIII's hands down...
