DDM HID Kit (Anyone who has knowledge of them...)

FINALLY got the damn things in today and was so excited to get them. Just went downstairs, plugged everything in, turned them on................nothing. Tried switching them just to make sure I covered all possible angles.....nothing. Tried turning on the high beams or something and nothing.

I unplugged the stock bulb, plugged the ballast into the harness coming from the cars low beam socket then plugged the bulb into the ballast.

Is there a trick to these?

I just highly doubt I ended up with TWO bad ballasts. I'm dumbfounded.

At this point, after waiting so long, I'm so irritated it's unreal.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
Also, this is the kit I go...

DDM HID Kit, 35W, 9005, 5000K (Kit / Package) so I know I ordered the correct one.
 
My ddm kit along with Manny others have the polarity reversed.
So I had to unplug the wires from inside the connections and reverse them.

From the ballast or from the bulb?

Did you have to cut the wire and splice them together?

Sorry for so many questions but I'd hate to cut them or alter them then find out that doesn't work and I can't return them.

If anyone has pictures that would REALLY help.
 
Hmmm, can't say I ever had to reverse polarity but I also have never bought a DDM kit either. Might be something different about them. I'm like you though, I wouldn't think both are bad. Did you buy a relay too? Sometimes those things are just needed. I have one on my lows on a Kensun kit but with that kit, it wasn't necessary. Just feels good to know that only one light is going to come on from start up. They're pretty cheap. Personally, I'd invest. Crank the car and then connect and try a light then. If it works with it running, you need some additional power!!

I did start the car up while they were connected and turned them on with no luck. I turned them on like right after starting it though. Guess I could try starting it for a minute or two then turning them on. If they come on, I need a relay? What kind? Never had to do anything like this before. They said they were plug and play so I expected them to just...work. Apparently not though.
 
yep. reverse polarity.
ford wired things weird a few times. with DC bulbs, it doesnt matter. with ballasts, it sure matters.

Glad a few people had the issue too, I was really worried.

So what exactly is it that needs to be done? I'm a little confused on what wires need to be reversed.
 
the plug that normally plugs into the headlight, that is now plugged into the ballast, reverse it.
 
I have DDM 3000k for my fogs , at first when I installed them I had them reversed so they did not turn on , so I flipped the cable that connects the ballast to the car lights and they worked , if they do not work you might have gotten a broken kit
 
No cutting or splicing
The plug going into the ballast you take the wires out of the plug look closely there is a small plastic tab that holds the wire in release this pull the wires out and put them back in on the opposite side

There's a clip though, they can only connect to the car's connector one way. Are you saying you have to flip that and connect the balast "backward" to the car connector?
 
can u take a pic of how you set it up so I can better see what the issue may be
 
So I'm assuming the red and blue wires that come out of the ballast and into the HID bulb need to be reversed, because those are what have the tiny red clips. Well, the red line does anyway, I wouldn't see how the blue one would come out.

If I do what you're saying Chris, I don't need to pull any wires or anything right? Just turn the connector backwards and connect it?...
 
the one that plugs into the car might have to flipped around , everything else looks good, but double check if everything is well put in , oh and when you turn on your car make sure high beams are off because on my LS the fogs dont turn on when the highs are on
 
You guys are AWESOME!!!! I seriously would not have thought about it being reversed lol. I mean, seriously, never would have thought about it.

There is a street light above my car so you can't tell the difference on the ground but WOW, I can see now lol.
 
I really appreciate everyone's help, I was ready to send them back. I already had the form opened up when I posted here. I triple checked like everything I could think of and nothing worked. Never would have guessed that was it.

Just drove it around the complex, looks amazing. I can see so good now lol. Just have to adjust a bit, looks like they're facing into each other just a bit instead of apart.
 
Try to aim them straight and a little bit down so they do not glare other drivers and call attention from cops lol

I THINK I have them downward, I'll know for sure when I'm on the road tomorrow after work. When I adjusted them yesterday after resealing them, I got the bubbles dead center. Wasn't exactly sure how to adjust horizontal...well I knew how to but couldn't figure out how to tell if it was moving or not from the "0" indicator.
 
yea do the driving test , if they honk at you or flick you off you might wanna fix em hahah , good luck with it man

lmao, this is basically what I planned on doing. If people honk, I must be signing in their eyes.
