Heres my Launch with the Aggressive Tune.

I have no idea really but could it be some kind of change to the way (or when) the torque converter locks up? I do get some weird drops in RPMs sometimes that me and a buddy are pretty sure its when the TC is locking up at times

Starting out in first gear, when I first watched the OP video I thought the same thing how he start out in first, useing sst? So me I went out and gave it a shot, from a complete stand still shifter in sst selected gear is second on the cluster, once I go wide open throttle it shifts to one then I can pop the gears from one to five.

Damn near killed myself, when I seen that it would shift down to first gear and get up and go. I had a guy in a charger pull up to me at the next light and ask me what I was running I looked at him square in the face and said straight stock, he was like damn I haven't seen a ls get up and move like you just did.

What i noticed, was I had traction control off and the RPMS was at 5 and it down shift right when I cleared the middle of the intersection, and at that point it took off once I started shifting them gears. By the time I hit a hundred miles I slide it over into auto and it felt like it kneeled down into the gears and took off. That's the moment I also most killed myself lol

the stock tune will not allow a 1st gen to start in 1, you have it set up in the aftermarket tune.

even if the car was pulling some timing on the factory tune, now that you are running lower octane gas, you can bet on the car pulling even more timing, and making even less power and even wasting more gas...

pray that your knock sensors don't ever fail, it would suck to have to spend thousands to replace an engine all over a couple of dimes per gallon.

Not quite. Its only recently i tried 89 octane. For 7 years ive been running 91, and 94. Same thing. Not anyworse or better. Doubt its knock sensors.

This Tune was not developed on my car. It was developed on SPSully's 01' LS. His has more work done, (Naturally aspirated) he's pushing 400 ish Horsepower. Since the Tune is aggressivly built for his LS, that could be why its not fully compatable with mine. W.e. I pulled the tune and reverted to Robs econo Tune. Alot less of the problem, still slightly hesitated through the gears.

It shifts before the rev limiter. The engine stumbles after the upshift.

I have the sct Xcal2 as well. My tuner gave me user selectable options for my tune. You can adjust several things like timing..

This is what I suggest that you do:

plug in the device, turn the key to ON, not start. It will say program vehicle? You say yes. It will ask change parameters? Say yes. Go to the line that says: WOT timing from 4-8K rpm... hit select and minus -2 degrees. Hit yes then load the tune as normal. Don't change anything else.

By doing that, can I pose any risk to my engine? (Critical risk)

I don't have a tune in mines. Well not one that I put in myself.
If it's a tune then the previous owner had to do it. As far as I know mines is straight stick and from a stand still, if I go wide open throttle it shifts to first gear then I can got from one to five by shifting it. 2002 v8

How can I check if it have a tube or not?

400whp? bhp? With spray right

there is a difference between starting in 1st and starting in 2nd and quickly downshifting into first when the throttle is press down past a certain percent...

has to be, cant see adding a hundred and a half horses with just different engine parts added on, especially with such a lack of aftermarket parts...

the difference, when I'm sitting at a light, I can put it into 1st gear... I dont have to wait for the car to figure out how fast I want to take off, and then wait for the car to shift the gear. its just right where I want it to be... thats the difference. performance wise, it might not be a huge difference, but it is what it is.

No. You're making the tune more conservative. There is less risk to your engine.

exactly, your removing timing (too much timing is one of the times that leads to engine pinging) so if your hearing pinging, then it can only be safer

Ok I get what your saying now when you switch over it's already in first gear.

exactly, 1st gens dont do that because then had to start in 2nd to meet fuel economy requirements. 2nd gens have variable valve timing which makes more power and is more fuel efficient so they programmed the cars to allow it. with a custom tune, you have the option of changing this on 1st gens

Actually..... It was to avoid the gas-guzzler tax. For the 2nd gens the EPA didn't require testing in SST mode.

400 bhp, + 100 wetshot. I've been for a ride in his LS. He walked a G8 GXP (with his wetshot) at the track. Was an awesome run. He's very high 12's, on a good day.

Try $20 grand later, and a lot of skill.

I would shoot myself in the face if I dropped $20K to barely slip into the 12's...

Ouch, that's love, or was love. Does he still have his ls?
