They are horrible, I know. If it wasn't in the 50s here I would wash the car at my house. If the trans wasn't acting funny, I would wash it at Mikes. Neither are options and the brake dust is the least of my problems $1000 later and the car still has same issues.
Selling the Lincoln... cant figure out what the shifting problem is with this freakin thing. I have receipts for all the work I have done involving the transmission/shifting problem ($800 worth). Winter is coming here in Indiana and I need a reliable car. Maybe someone on here will value it...
The transmission guy says that his money is on something with the computer system, claiming that if it was anything with the transmission it would be throwing a code #1, and #2 that the hard shifting has nothing to do with the trans itself, rather the computer telling it how hard to shift. Does...
So here we are again... I took everyones advice and replaced the solenoid, servo bores and all the good stuff praying for the best. After doing this and flashing the ecm... $650 dollars later, the car still has the same problem. Reading up on the trouble I found that the factor ECMs in the LS...
Update:
Latest mechanic (who seems to be the most honest and trustworthy) says that it has nothing to do with my transmission and that the computer needs reprogrammed and "flashed". He seems to think that this will solve my problem.
...luckily, this is something that only the dealership can...
Well, found a shop that will do a rebuild for 1700... idk how good they are but my step father went to school with the guy and has had different work done at the shop before. Everyone on LvC says replace solenoid replace solenoid replace solenoid but every mechanic says otherwise. What are the...
So the official verdict is in now, trans guy again says that he would recc the whole trans be rebuilt. Says there is no metal shavings but that the trans fluid was black and his conclusion is that everything is just burning up. Says the official cause of the 3rd into 4th gear slamming is a...
Sorry about the odd title... was watching "The Office".
Anyways, I have to replace the back seats in my 03 LS but I was just wondering if anyone knew if the back seats from an 05 LS will be an exact match? Also out of curiosity, would I have the necessary connections already established...
He said "vacuum noise"... when the cooling fans are on it can resemble when the wife runs the vacuum at home! :D To me they can sometimes sound unreasonably loud.
Hmmm, I wouldnt say its a "delayed engagement"... just very harsh. Actually goes into R pretty quick. The car will be sitting on a flat surface though and rocks front to back and you can tell something isnt right. Ive been reading threads all morning though... im prepared to either replace or...
Seen the ones on CL, dude never answers phone or returns calls. Ill check with T-Money. All else fails I seen a few on ebay for different years, idk if they will fit though. Thanks for the reply!
Well... transmission guy is puzzled for now. He says that it is not throwing any codes except for a "theft security code" (which could be why the LS shuts down and the alarm goes off sometimes when I first start it?). Thats another problem in itself, but for now its staying in the shop over...
Looking for 2003 Lincoln LS back seats. Need to be black in color please. Not sure if other years would fit, but if you have this knowledge and have a back seat that would fit, Ill take it! Please go easy on the wallet, there are some on CL and the junk yard but would rather help out a LvC...
Thanks fellaz, Ill keep you posted its in the trans shop now...

About half way down page, "Talbotway" quotes: The <$5 spring was the fix. This is the one you most likely...
I have been combing though posts the last 3 hours and have come to the conclusion that I have a bad solenoid. Let me first say that I am not mechanically inclined, in fact, I am mechanically illiterate.
Stats:
