I had exactly the same thing happen to both of my cars. An LS and an Acura MDX. It ended up being that I kept my keys in a tool box drawer at work with one of those superstrong earth magnets next to the keys. It flucked up two key fobs before i figured out the problem. Dealer tried everything...

Document everything and get the paint off as soon as possible. Lacquer thinner on a rag will be much easier than a clay bar, but be very careful of the rubber trim and the plastic pieces.
