Change the Coils… not always the answer

That test was done over a decade ago.

Change the Coils… not always the answer

That's not true. I have a good DVM that has a lead that measures temps. I tried coil covers on... and coil covers off. The difference was negligible.

    Overheating on the linc

I use a box end wrench that just barely fits over the t-stat, then rotate the stat "wings" in place, in the housing You get better leverage that way.

    Over and over... and over.

    Overheating on the linc

The reason for replacing everything in one shot... Is because all of those new parts will last for 70k (or more). Why waste time and effort going back in to replace one part???

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

You still have air in the cooling system. Try bleeding the system with the nose of the car pointed down.

    Overheating on the linc

The hum you are hearing is the auxillary coolant pump. It will run and circulate the engine coolant until the temp drops to a certain point. You are probably looking at a complete cooling system rebuild.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

As an afterthought... Did you bleed the cooling system with the nose of the car downhill. The heater core can get "air locked" if you didn't. Air always tries to find the highest point.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

Look for a Gates 41528E... Or a Rein WPA0034. Those are Jag aftermarket. IIRC... Advance auto can special order the REIN. Either of those will work, but the orientation of the aux pump might be different than OEM.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

Well ... If the first shop said the engine was 1.5 gallons low, then there has to be a leak somewhere, and it's most likely NOT the head gaskets.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

If the coolant is low, it could potentially damage the water pump by letting it run dry.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

That hose is about 3/8 in diameter. It's no wonder you have been leaking engine coolant the whole time

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

Go to the magnifying glass at the top right corner of this page, and tap on it. Then type in "cooling system issues" in the box, and hit enter. You will see multiple pages of cooling system issues for the V8 LS.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

But that wouldn't cause the head gaskets to leak externally. Find a different shop. You may find that there is a hose that runs under the intake manifold and across the top of the engine block. It's known to leak and typically the coolant runs off the back of the block, and into the...

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

Yup, but it only runs for about a minute or so... depending on how hot the engine is.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

After more reading the Dual Climate control valve might be messed up. Same for the auxillary coolant pump. It circulates the coolant after shutdown.

    Possible Blown Headgasket?

The cooling system might be air locked. You also might want to start with the water pump. There ARE known instances of water pumps failing (pulley shaft to impeller).

Good thing I didn't invest in the stock market. Didn't need to know that through any "tip". Glad I got bored and checked in on all the new lies (I mean news).;) A European company named Merk, and another called Innovax, are working on a vaccine for H5N1 in chickens. Nothing yet...
