    intake cleaning

    Yeah cleaning that pipe-organ looking nightmare is FUN, ain't it? When I had mine off, I soaked everything in a big tub of home-brew solvent... Pretty much straight lacquer thinner with a quart can of methylene chloride paint stripper for added dissolving action. It worked pretty well...

    THIS What they're quoting you is just sick... Yeah I know a LOT of people pay it, but I'd never be one of 'em. You can get the parts from RockAuto and DIY... Except maybe for charging it with with refrigerant. And you might even accomplish that the cheap way using the little 12-oz cans...

    My son has that engine in his 97 Grand Prix GTP. Damn nice car for a FailWD. He's had that for 5 years and has never had any big issue with it. The 3.8 is based on the old Buick V-6 design from the 70's. It's not the same engine family as that 3.1 and other variants. Those things are boat...

    Blown Head Gasket? Liquid sealant?

    If you're paying the usual shop rates, you're going to be into for WAY over a grand... I've done the job - with the motor still in the car - and it's a royal PIA. Mostly all labor too, other than the gasket set new head bolts and replacements for whatever else you find that's no good or that...

    The entire rear of the Mark VIII is attached to the rear sub-frame that's mounted to the body at 4 points. If you can get those bolts out - or cut them - all that remains is the aft end of the driveshaft, the brake lines and e-brake cables and some wiring. One big chunk.

    Do they use SALT on the roads in CT? I need an e-brake adjuster and the the shield / straps below the gas tank. But only if they're VGC I'm at 13052. Thanks for your time - and I'm sorry to see another Mark bite the dust...

    The shaved intake tube and the Helmholtz Resinator. WTF?

    Ditto... Except I removed BOTH, using the leftover plastic from the removed chunks to make cover plates that I then plastic-welded on over the openings with a soldering iron and some additional scrap plastic material as filler. Works like a charm, no issue with the MAF or anything else.

    Parking Brake Adjuster Needed

    I've been a member here for a while, usually I just read and absorb info, but... I'm doing the rear brakes on my '93 including the parking brake cables, etc. and after taking it apart, discovered that the cable adjuster is a total rust sculpture. I might be able to clean up this corroded...
