Please help me find a how-to on the front sway bar. I have found many many threads about people having the problem, but no how-tos. I've stared at it many times wandering how it comes out...and its time for me to do it. Help!!
i dont care what they call it...shock or strut. When you open the box and pull the strut out of the box, there is only about 4 inches of the shaft sticking out of it. The shaft is down in the tube for shipping so the box isn't 3 feet long. There has to be more travel than this. I know how to...
I have brand new front motorcraft struts in the box waiting to go on my car. I can not figure out how to make them extend. They are compressed in the box for shipping purposes and they have to come out somehow. I have tried pushing in and turning each way and nothing happens. Dealership...
I was trying to solve a front end vibration issue. I put new tires on it and went to the dealer to get an alignment done. They wouldn't do the alignment cause my lower ball joints and slack in them, which i went out into the shop and saw myself, so i just changed all of them. I am going to get...
Just finished it. Took me about 4 hours to do both sides, with taking some breaks cause its around 100* here. The knuckles cost me $212 per side, and the upper arms were $76 per side. Those are wholesale prices from the dealer. List price is much more. I just hope i never have to do that again...
I'm changing both the upper control arms and steering knuckles tomorrow. I bought the parts today and they look much better than what came on the car in 2000. The steering knuckle looks pretty straightforward, but those upper arms look like it might be tight getting to the bolts? Any tips...
Car is a 2000 made 05/00. Has the 8. There is not any driveability issues that i can tell. I have driven on city streets and highways and no difference than when the lights where off. Why would u suspect a speed sensor? If one of those were bad, would a code particuliarly for that pop up?
Check engine light came on and display read "check transmission" Had a friend scan it with a snap on scanner and it said TCC solenoid failure or lose of signal. TCC=torque converter control. The torque converter is definately locking up on the interstate properly. We cleared it and it came...
Of course i could have, but this car is not hard to work on. Couldn't see spending like $1400 and then a deductible everytime it goes in. And it wouldn't have covered the brakes anyway...
Well I knew it was going to be outrageous, but i couldn't tell where the noise was coming from so it was worth the $80 diagnostic fee for that, and they hit the nail on the head with the noise. I got the front ceramics from Advance and the rear ceramics from autozone. Both made my Morse and i...
Sway bar bushings $12/piece
Inner tie rod $30
Outer tie rod $35
drill/slotted rotors $160(ebay,all 4)
Ceramic pads $80 (all around)
Alignment-free, great to know people at shops
Total $329
Freakin dealer wanted $728 to do just the sway bar and both tie rods, and the alignment. Insane!
Figured i'd update this to let yall know the problem was indeed the sway bar bushings. They didn't look bad at all, but infact they were. Driver side took like 5 mins, freakin passenger side toke about an hour. Also changed the inner and outer tie rod on the passenger side as it was bent from...
Previous owner of my car must have had someone buff the car with an orbital buffer and it looks like crap when the sun hits it, the car is black. You can see exactly path the buffer went in swirls and light scratches. What do yall think my best bet is to get it out? I was considering just...
Need to buy 10 lugnuts if anyone has some laying around. Ridiculous price at the dealer(even the commercial price). Dont' know if there are different styles, but i need the ones that have the washers on them.
Most of the time, it is a speed sensor that goes bad. The abs and traction control rely on constant signals from the the speed sensors to detect a traction problem or brake lock up. If there is any interruption in the signal, it will disable the abs and i'm guessing the traction control also...
