What is a stock 4.6 Town Car good for in the 1/4 mile?

I ran a '06 TC through the 1/4 mile in the low 15's. Mid to high 16's seems about right. Although, I would love to have a TC that ran the 1/4 mile in the 10's. But that's just me.

The Lincoln Town Car WILL LIVE AFTER 2007!!!

I'm TOTALLY stoked that the Townie has been saved! That being said, it's time for a REAL interior upgrade, drop the 'Stang GT engine in it, and keep it RWD! My next car, no question.

    repetitive chirping noise

I totally hear the same thing! I have an '01 Sig, and everytime I turn left into a hard corner, I can barely hear the "chirping" moise coming from the right wheel. Any suggestions?

    Engine Swap

Once my '01 Sig goes out of warranty (75K miles, CPO car), I'm wanting to do an engine swap, and replace the stock engine with a 98-02 Conti engine. I presume that the engine and tranny will slide right in. Would this be possible? Anything I should be aware of? Your comments will be...

Just picked up new 2005 TC

Congrats dood! That's a nice looking ride. You will like the improved ride (the 17"s ride better...same sidewall rating as the 16"s though) and the increased hp. My only beef is the mushy seats, but that's in the '06 Sig.

    Old Man's Car?

Dood, two things. One, the 2003 TC is probably the best year for that car. That was the last year for all of the PI parts (suspension, exhaust, headers, etc. etc.) that came from the factory. Little by little, every year Lincoln is dumbing down the TC with cheap parts. Two, oh sure, the...

    Whats Your Thoughts

I would have a technician check it out. That being said, the mileage is a big X factor. If you are on a tight budget, I would forgo the TC altogether, until you get into a better position, financially speaking.

    Vibrating Passenger Seat

I have a '01 Sig. On this car, and my old '95 (RIP), the seat would vibrate at high speeds. Is there anything that I (or a tech) can do to reduce, or eliminate, the vibration? It's more annoying than anything.

    Auto Show Thoughts

I was recently at the Greater Tarrant County Auto Show. Great selection of cars! Naturally, I spent most of my time in the Lincoln/Mercury exhibit. Here's a few random thoughts... Best car there - easily the Lincoln Zephyr, soon to be the MKZ. This generated most of the buzz from...

Help me pick a town car (please!)

Air bags for 80 USD a piece? That is a GREAT deal! Have you been able to find a good deal on an air compressor? Dood, I just realised that you are from Fort Worth! I'm now residing in Grapevine.

Help me pick a town car (please!)

I would go with the '95-'97. The only thing is that the air bags will last you until around 100k (this also can vary due to geographical conditions, driving style, etc. etc.) The air bags themselves will run you about 800 USD, and a air compressor will run you around 600 USD. I had the A/C...

Biggest thing youve put in trunk?

I've put a lawnmover, a TV stand (that will support up to a 27" TV), and about 18 bags of groceries. The TV stand I carried it in my '01 TC.

    99 TC keyless entry issues

Sounds like a short in the system. Also, whenever you enter the code, if you go too fast, it won't unlock the doors. Can be a pain, if it is raining and/or cold outside. Was the keypad factory-installed, or was it a dealer-installed accessory? I know that Lincoln dropped the keypad from...

    Cartier questions

There was no "L" version of the Town Car in 1996. Lincoln didn't come out with an extended wheelbase version of the TC until 2000. That version had the extended doors, and the extended "B" pillar as well (regular sized rear windows). The 03-present "L" had the regular "B" pillar, and also...

1998 Lincoln Town Car Touring Edition

Sounds like a good deal to me. Make sure that he (the original owner) has all of the receipts, and has performed the regular scheduled maintenance. Also, ask if he has replaced the front and rear brakes. The Touring Edition also came with the special ebony-stained wood. I

    Diecast Towncars

The only one that I know of (I'm an avid collector) are the Sunstar 2000 Lincoln Town Car Limo. There are no 1995-97 ones out there, unfortunately. I would have had one if there was lol.

    Cartier questions

The 1995-97 Lincoln Town Car Cartier came standard with rear vanity visors, as well as special colour wood (rosewood). It also came in exclusive colours (among them, pearl white, ivory, and burgundy). It also came with the upgraded engine w/dual exhausts.
