I have rattle/clunk coming from my front end that sounds exactly like a classic bad strut mount (yeah yeah...I know they are shocks lol) So I replaced the front shocks and mounts this weekend and noticed I still have the sound although things are definitely dampened better.

Mine is on my lift right now to replace the front shocks and I noticed I have a tiny bit of wiggle in the rear right. I think it was coming from the tire rod...Guess I have a new thing to order.

Im a little ticked off at myself.
I didn't notice that these shocks are available on rockauto...listed under 06 only. for only 85 bucks a piece. I paid about 120.
I only figured it out because I typed in the 6w4z-18124-D number into google.....Frustrating...but maybe this will help save...
I just know it belongs in a bathroom..lol
***Ninja Edit*** These are my FRONT shocks...I will be ordering the rear ones soon.

Go to fordparts.com
Type in your vin
surf to the shocks section and see whats left....it should only show your cars shocks...special = sport
if you don't put in the vin and just drill down with year make model...it shows you all the possible shocks.
It turns out the shocks for the 1st gen special suspension are readily available and others have used them with success.

I'll probably be going this route but I'll keep searching until I order.
I wish I could find the specs on the stockers....then I could at least call up some shock makers and find the closest one
My new fronts should be in in the next day or two...They will have to do atm until I make a decision on what to do.

Just curious...Are you lowered with aftermarket springs or by cutting the stockers?
I would image very stiff springs could easily mask the effectiveness of the shock but at the same time... I have a full hotchkis suspension on my Lightning which includes...
From what I have read the KYB's are much softer then stock. What has your experience been? I really enjoy throwing this thing around and I am worried about going backwards in the in the performance department.
So I found a sent of Front AST 214's for my 03 v8 w/ "special" suspension but of course I cannot find the rears.
I've read a butt load of threads but cant seem to put my finger on the current thinking around what to do about them? Can anyone point me to a suitable replacement since I cannot...
